Rabindra Hazari, one of the trustees of Children of the World (India) Trust, accuses the chairperson of making physical alterations on the sublet plot, wrongfully sacking a staffer.
The Children of the World (India) Trust in Navi Mumbai is facing an inquiry over a claim of rampant malpractices made by one of its trustees Rabindra Hazari. The trust has been created to help children, women, and mainly discarded infants and babies.
On October 6, 2021, Hazari wrote a letter to IA Kundan, secretary of Women and Child Development, to claim that the trust is made for physical alterations to the plot to open the Youth Centre. Meena Mathew, the chairperson of the trust, violated the Juvenile Justice Act.
Alterations to the leased plot-
Hazari was addressing Mathew in his letter that in 2017, some adjustments on the ground floor of the child care institution paid out twenty lakh rupees approximately. The work has been done under the supervision of architect Smita Khanna, her daughter-in-law
As the trust bust, the rental conditions Mantralya said that allegations are serious.
It was noted that the youth center is charging fees from the adult members, and the plot has been build only for charitable activities.
Mathew said that the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra had given us the land to open the institute for the welfare of children and women. Sources reported that Anuja Mane had been hired as superintendent of Youth Centre but sacked her.
Wrongful sacking-
Mane revealed that Mathew threatened her as she wanted her to work as a puppet, but she opposed this. She even said that for the superintendent’s post, we needed a candidate who had the experience of ten years, which Mane did not have.
She claimed that she was not a good candidate who handled the extensive responsibilities of the center.
There was a woman Sheela Chandanshiv was serving the post of superintendent since 2008. She had been appointed to the position for a person holding a Master’s in Social Work.
Mane added that she got her appointment letter on “the day I was asked to leave and it’s antedated.” “Mane has put the date of 06-10-2021 under her signature on her appointment letter.
Also, the letter is purportedly issued by Tina Vajpeyi [the then chairperson], who resigned on September 17, 2021, and flew out of India on September 18/19. Hence the letter is signed by Mathew who took over as the chairperson on September 17.
This proves the letter is antedated,” Hazari’s letter reads.
Mathew termed Hazari’s allegations “baseless” and said, “No malpractice is going on at the centre.” She added that while the government officials praise the excellent work at the center, “Hazari is creating trouble for us.”
