PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate the New Parliament on May 28. The new Parliament building took nearly three years to construct. All the parties in the country were given invitations to be present at the historic moment. But, the invitation was declined by all the parties except Biju Janata Dal and YSRCP.
The spokesperson of Biju Janata Dal, Lenin Mohanty, announced that their party accepted the invitation for the inauguration of the new Parliament, “the party said that it believes that the parliament as a symbol of democracy is above all politics, and its authority and stature should be safeguarded.” They believe that constitutional issues are of utmost importance, and the sanctity and honor of the parliament should be maintained and honored. Any disagreement can be entertained after the inauguration in August itself under the vicinity of the new parliament. BJD has eight members in Rajya Sabha and 12 members in Lok Sabha.
The support by the BJD party comes after the visit of Odhissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to Delhi, where he met P.M Narendra Modi. PM Modi has offered his support in constructing Jagannath International Airport, which is being constructed to further enhance tourism and development of the state.
BJD further stated that their acceptance of the invitation was not because of any ulterior motive. They confirmed that they will keep their distance from BJP and Congress, at least till the 2024 Assembly and general polls. They are ready to fight their own battles with all their power. Patnaik, who has been Chief Minister of the state since March 2000, has been time and again approached by opposition parties.
The SAD party confirmed the invitation by stating, “ The inauguration of the new Parliament brings pride to the nation and we will not support the boycott decision of the opposition .
“YSRCP ” has politely accepted the invitation for the inauguration. The central government recently approved the funds to Andhra Pradesh, since the state’s bifurcation in June 2014. The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has time and again shown his loyalty towards the “Centre”. He has always accepted and respected the center and its work in developing both the nation and Andhra Pradesh.
Prahlad Joshi, Union Minister of our country, has shown his displeasure towards the opposition for not accepting the inaugural invite. He requested the parties to reconsider their decision and be a part of the historical function, which will further densify the history of India.
While parties like Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party(YSRCP), and Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) have confirmed their attendance, some others like Bahujan Samaj Party and Shiv Sena are still thinking. There is a probability that they will attend. AAP and Congress have outwardly declined the invitation, stating that, “ President Murmu was not unveiling the flag, which is an insult for the nation.”
Moments like these are very rare in society or the country, so they need to be respected and celebrated. Parliament is one of the strongest pillars of the society, hence constructing the new building is like constructing a new nation. As an Indian it is a proud moment, we all are obliged and honoured to witness this inauguration in our lifetime. May 28th 2024, will go in history books for future generations of our country. Thus, further enriching our solid history.
