The shootout
Officials said that the pre-dawn shoot-out took place near the military camp, 25km from Rajouri.
The area has been sealed off along with additional dispatches to the area.
According to the police officials, a terrorist group called “Lashkar-e-Taiba” was behind this suicide attack.
This was the biggest attack the area has seen since February 2018, the Sunjwan camp attack in Jammu.
In 2016, a similar attack took place in Uri, J&k, in which eighteen soldiers were killed in action.
The terrorist attack took place after 3 terrorists of “Lashkar-e-Taiba” were killed by the army forces in Budgam. One of them was directly involved in the murder of TV artist Amreen Bhat and Pandit Rahul Bhat.
The terrorist attack took place just a few days before Independence day, leaving the civilians in distress.
The officials recently have confirmed the arrest of Talib Hussain Shah, who formerly was in charge of BJP minority morcha’s social media handle. He was later discharged by BJP who blamed it on faulty online membership for allowing participants without a background check. The police have also busted a major terrorist group module in J&K.
Talib Shah was also involved in a number of attacks in this area. Police have discovered a large number of firearms from his residence.
