Amidst all the huge waves of criticism, Udhayanithi Stalin’s office is all getting ready in full swing for his D-day, his Swearing-in-ceremony, which is planned for the 14th of December 2022 in Raj Bhavan. The Present DMK Youth wing Secretary is going to assume his office in his father MK Stalin’s cabinet, as a Minister, likely to hold Sports & Youth welfare portfolios from tomorrow.
According to the official announcement from the chief secretariat, the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu MK Stalin recommended governor R. N. Ravi for the induction of Udhayanithi into the council of Ministers and the recommendation was approved by the governor.
There were high speculations that there would definitely be a reshuffle of the cabinet to induct Udhayanithi Stalin. According to sources, Udhayanithi was first assumed to hold the Local Administration Department but later the idea was suspended by MK Stalin, the sources said, he thought it would lead to conflicts within the party regarding seniority.
An MLA and actor, Udhayanithi Stalin who represents the Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni constitution, joined DMK in 2018 and was made Youth wing Secretary in the year 2019, the office which was previously held by his father for decades ranging from 1982 to 2017.
Udhayanithi Stalin’s Contribution to DMK:
After his entry into Politics, Udhayanithi Stalin is claimed to be a successful organizer and hard worker by the party workers as he is very active on all social media platforms. He was considered a star campaigner by the party during the 2021 Elections for his extempore speeches and canvassing.
He was scrutinized by the media when he was found carrying a brick during the campaign. It was meant to be a satirical attack on the BJP for failing in the construction of AIIMS in Madurai. This was received well by the people and it created a huge impact on voting.
The coronation & the questions on rationalism:
The news about Udhayanithi becoming a Minister created a storm on the internet with all sorts of criticism, both positive & negative. It is said that the party DMK upholds the ideologies of rationalism but the date & timings of Udhayanithi Stalin’s swearing-in-ceremony calls for criticism by many.
The penultimate day was an auspicious one according to the Tamil Calendar. The very next day is considered inauspicious due to the start of the month of Margazhi which is not considered good for any new beginnings.
The critics took it to the internet claiming that the party is putting up a façade in this regard. Udhayanithi’s mother Durga Stalin name also surfaced as she is a believer and is said to have an upper hand behind the scenes.
Ever since the announcement made by the party, several ministers expressed their opinions on social media. The Leader of the Opposition Party, Edaippadi. K. Palanisamy made his speculations even before a day of the announcement. He condemned the party saying that Stalin would make his son a minister soon and added that DMK was becoming a corporate company.
But Udhayanidhi’s induction was received with a different note in DMK including senior Ministers like Duraimurugan who openly expressed his support. Minister Ponmudi also joined him and claimed that it was already late in giving him the position.
