Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani of the gas-producing country, Qatar, visited Moscow on Sunday to further the discussions on the IRAN Nuclear deal. As the war enters its 18th day, Doha is delicately balancing its stance with Russia and Ukraine. While keeping its long ally US in terms.Â
Qatar’s official Twitter handle released the statement regarding the respective meeting held in Moscow with the Russian FM Sergei Lavrov.Â
While Qatar has reiterated its belief that peaceful diplomatic talks should channel the course of the war-peace talk. The Doha administration had in separate phone calls with U.S. secretary of state Anthony Blinken and the Iranian Foreign Minister discussed the pending Iran nuclear deal.
Why is the Middle-east catering to Russia?
Last week there was widespread discussion on the UAE and Saudi Arabia missing Biden’s phone calls. The present development of the Doha administration resuming the long-pending Iran nuclear deal, expert think following could be the possible reason:Â
- The USA’s inability to stop the warÂ
- The Yemen crisis and ignorance of the west to its impact on middle-eastern regional stabilityÂ
- The Riyadh oil-plant bombing and Houthi insurgencyÂ
- The OPEC countries’ unwillingness to play USA’s complianceÂ
For a long, the middle east countries have depended on Washington’s military aid. With the present situation, the Arabs are tilting to change the dynamics by walking the tightrope. The Moscow administration wants a guarantee from the west that its trade with Iran shall remain unaffected by the sanctions the West has incurred upon it. T
he middle east’s concerns are primarily to ensure its regional stability in the region. As the Russians hold the key to Iran, which happens to back the Houthi insurgents causing heavy losses to the Arabs.Â
The oil rate concerns
The U.S. deliberated with the middle east to control the oil pricing while also intending to re-open talks with long-sanctioned countries like Venezuela and Iran, only to ensure its current ban on Russian oil does not spike the fuel rates.
The Arabs are not willing to pay their compliance to the US on this. So far, the west has refused to pay heed to Russia’s demands and extended its military-financial aid to Ukraine. Middle-eastern countries have their support for the adoption of peaceful practices to pacify the war.Â
