Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that national roads will be increased by 25,000 kilometers (km) between 2022 and 2024. The federal ropeway construction programme will be implemented through a public-private partnership (PPP).Â
Ms Sitharaman announced when presenting the Budget for 2022-23 to Parliament.Â
She added that contracts for the development of multimodal logistics parks in four sites would be given using the PPP mechanism in 2022-23.Â
The finance minister stated that 20,000 crores would be mobilized through innovative financing methods to supplement public resources.Â
“The PM Gati Shakti Master Plan for Expressways will be developed in 2022-23 to help people and products move more quickly.Â
“In 2022-23, the national highway system will be increased by 25,000 kilometers,” she continued.Â

She went on to say that the goal is to increase commuter connection and convenience while also encouraging tourism.Â
Contracts for eight 60-kilometre ropeway projects will be given in 2022-23, according to Ms Sitharaman.Â
Nitin Gadkari on union budget 2022-23Â
Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, speaking on the Union Budget 2022-23, said that this year’s Budget prioritised the development of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and farmers.Â
Mr Gadkari further stated that the infrastructure sector focuses on the Budget.Â
He stated that the North East, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Kashmir would gain from the National Ropeways Development Program.Â
