New Delhi- The Ministry has said that the active cases comprise 0.08 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate further improved to 98.72 per cent.Â
Taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,29,96,062, India logged 2,568 new coronavirus infections while the active cases dipped to 33, 917 as per the Union Health Ministry data updated today.
As per the data updated at 8am stated that the number of deaths climbed to 5,15,974 with 97 fresh fatalities and the Ministry said that the active cases comprise 0.08 per cent of the infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate further improved to 98.72 per cent.
In a span of 24 hours, a reduction of 2,251 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload and the number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,24,46,171 and the case fatality rate was recorded as 1.20 per cent.
A steady decrease can be seen in the COVID cases in India after seeing a resurgence in mid-January owing to the highly infectious Omicron Variant crossed 3-lakh mark.
From Wednesday onwards, in a boost against its fight against COVID-19, India is all set to expand its vaccination drive to include children aged 12-14 years and also so far, the country has been vaccinating its population aged 15 and above.
Booster doses woud would also be administered by India where the doses would be provided to the people who are above sixty years of age. Till now, only people with illnesses- above sixty years of age were receiving booster doses.
The official data shows us that, India has so far given 180.36 crore vaccine doses with more than seventeen lakh (11,11,867) doses being administered in the past twenty-four hours.
Union Secretary Rajesh Bhushan would be addressing a virtual conference with states and Union terreitories to discuss upon the vaccination of children aged 12-14 years and precaution dose for all citizens above 60 years of age.
