On the guise of the Vande Bharat train, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attacked the federal government on Thursday.
Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, called out individuals who were disseminating “false news” on incidences of stone-throwing on the Vande Bharat Express. Vande Bharat, according to Mamata, is nothing exceptional. It’s just an old train that a new engine has restored to new condition. She also addressed the subject of Vande Bharat being stoned on two consecutive days, stating that his government would take action against those responsible for spreading false information.
CM’s viewpoint on the matter
According to Mamata, Bihar was where Vande Bharat was stoned, not West Bengal. She threatened to take legal action against media outlets that “spread misinformation” by reporting that the incident occurred in Bengal. He claimed that efforts were being made to use such false information to harm the state’s reputation.
Stones were thrown at the New Jalpaiguri-bound train on January 3 while it was passing slightly in front of Mangurjan station in the Kishanganj district of Bihar, according to sources in the railways. Two coaches of the newly inaugurated train had their windows broken in the incident.
“Perhaps the lack of a Vande Bharat train in Bihar has irritated the locals. Because they are not BJP members, they do not have a train. Strict action will be taken against anyone who attempts to distribute false information “As reported by the news agency ANI, she stated.
Vande Bharat has received stone pelting twice
In West Bengal this week, there were complaints of stone-pelting on the Vande Bharat Express twice in a succession. Glasses on Vande Bharat Express coaches C3 and C6 were reportedly shattered by stone pelting in the second incident, according to RPF. It was alleged that the windows were discovered to be broken as the train was travelling toward New Jalpaiguri close to the Phansideva neighbourhood in the Darjeeling district.
Earlier, on the very second day of the Vande Bharat Express’s operation in West Bengal, an instance of stone-pelting against the train was reported. Information claims that the incident happened on the Vande Bharat Express, which travels between Howrah and New Jalpaiguri when some miscreants threw stones at the train near Kumarganj station in Malda. Coach number 13 of the Vande Bharat Express had a crack in the window glass as a result of the stone-throwing. The BJP has asked the NIA to look into this case.
A railway official added that in addition to filing an FIR on the occurrences, a campaign to raise awareness has also been launched to stop similar incidents from happening again.
On December 30, while the Vande Bharat express to New Jalpaiguri was being flagged off, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee refused to leave the dais as some attendees chanted “Jai Shri Ram” in front of her.
The chants, however, sparked a political dispute with the TMC objecting to the utterance of what they perceived as a party slogan in a government programme made more solemn by the passing of a Prime Minister’s family member and the BJP asserting that it was normal for their employees to be excited by an event that would be inaugurated by the PM.
The people who threw stones at the train, according to the railway officials’ assertion on Thursday, have been identified. The BJP and Trinamool Congress got into a spat over the event.
