The water-level in river Yamuna rises, and officials inform that over a hundred families living on the floodplains were moved to higher areas.

The flood control department sent an alert when the water level reached 205.38 metres at Yamuna River.
In Delhi, it has been raining cats and dogs, so the water level was just below the danger mark, which is 205.33, at 205.30.
As a result of heavy rains in the upper catchment areas, over a hundred families were evacuated from vulnerable areas.
On Friday, it swelled to 205.59 metres by 9 p.m. and by Saturday evening, it had receded 204.89 metres.
An official of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority informed that the families that they evacuated were currently moved into tents and shelter house of the Delhi government.
The Hathni Kund Barrage in Haryana’s Yamunanagar district was reported at a discharge rate of 17,827 cusecs at 9 a.m., which is generally at 352 cusecs, but increased due to the heavy rainfall.
When it peaked to 1.60 lac cusecs, it made the record for the year 2022.
It takes two to three days from the water in the barrage to reach Delhi.
This isn’t the first time that the river was flooded. According to the data released by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority, there have been several floods.
In 1978, the water level was recorded at 207.49 metres at the Old Yamuna Bridge.
Then, the water level reached till 207.11 metres in 2010.
In 2013, it had reached till 207.32 metres.
The main reason of this flooding is the Hathani Kund Barrage, as concluded by the officials.
