Wang Yi, China’s foreign minister on Sunday said that China is ready to work with India through steady and sound growth of the relationship, according to the foreign ministry website.
He also addressed journalists saying “China and India have maintained communication through the diplomatic and military-to-military channels, and both countries are committed to upholding stability in the border areas. We stand ready to work with India in the direction toward steady and sound growth of China-India relations.”
“In the interim, the two sides agreed to maintain the security and stability on the ground in the Western Sector,” he said according to the statement.
This statement comes after the stand-off between India and China in the Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh on the 9th of December. Following the clash, the ministry of external affairs (MEA) in a statement said that on the 20th of December 2022, India and China held the 17th round of Corps commander Level meetings at the Chushul-Moldo border meeting on the Chinese side, and both the nations agree to on maintaining security and stability on the ground on the western sector.
On the 9th of December 2022, China and India had a clash in the Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh. Both nations immediately stepped back. There were no casualties in this standoff.
After the clash, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in a statement said that India and China held the 17th round of Corps Commander Level Meeting at the Chushul-Moldo border meeting point on the Chinese side on December 20 and agreed to maintain the security and stability on the ground in the Western Sector.
17% of China infected with covid
China has also come under the radar with the growing cases of covid in the country. Health experts estimate around 100 million covid cases and one million deaths in China. Dr. Neeraj Kumar Gupta, HOD of Pulmonary Medicine at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital said, “Based on mathematical calculations, we expect close to 100 million Covid cases in China, five million admissions and one million deaths, which is a huge number.”
Almost 250 million people in China have been affected by covid 19 in just 20 days. This spike in covid cases was seen following the lifting of the zero-covid policy at the beginning of this month. As per leaked documents from China’s National Health Commission 248 million people have been infected by covid 19 from December 1 to 20th, which is almost 17.65 % of the population,
