The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary announced the Results for Class 12 on 10th June at 11AM through a press conference.
After two years full of uncertainty, the batch of 2021-22 was the first to give their Board Exams offline as we slowly neared the end of the Covid-19 pandemic. The students who suffered through the distress of the Delta and Omicron variant, fake news of Exam Cancellation and disconnected Online Classes geared up as they wrote their Class 12’s from April 2nd to April 27th.
After nearly 44 days of the Examinations being over, the result was declared on June 10th at 11AM. Students who have not received their results by SMS can view it at their official site. This year, alongside their marks students shall also be receiving grades from O/Distinction to D//Improvement.
A Brilliant Result from the 2022 Batch of West Bengal Board Class 12
819202 students had appeared in 2021, amongst which 97.69% of the students passed. They were evaluated based on a 40:60 ratio giving importance to Class 10 Boards and Class 11 Annual Examinations. However, this year 7.4 Lakh students had registered out of which 96% of the students appeared in the examinations. The overall pass % stood at 88.44%.
Adhisha Debasarma from Cooch Behar bagged the 1st place with 99.6%, scoring 498/500. Sayandip Samanta from Paschim Midnapore scored 99.4% ranking 2nd in the State. The 3rd position was shared by 4 people who scored 99.2% or 496 marks each. Breaking previous records, nearly 272 students have made it in the Merit List which features the Top 10 rank holders.
This year, 90.19% of Boys who appeared for the examinations passed while the Girl’s Pass % stood at 86.98. While the city of Kolkata shined in the results, the districts of Midnapore and Cooch Behar performed exceptionally well.
A Word of Appreciation from the Chief Minister Herself
The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee took to Twitter to congratulate all the students who appeared for their Higher Secondary Examinations. She extended her gratitude to the guardians, teachers and schools for their quick assessment and release of results.
A Proud Moment for the Jalchak Nateshwari Netaji Vidyayatan School of West Midnapore as 22 students from their school features on the merit list. Sayandip Samanta hails from that school and ranked 2nd while Parichay Pari came 3rd.
In a successful feat, a large number of the students have received First Division or 480 and above marks. While both Commerce and Science stream students have performed exceptionally well with 90% students clearing the examinations, Arts remains the weakest performer in the West Bengal Higher Secondary Boards.
Insights into the Results and Upcoming Information for Students
Students can expect to receive the physical copy of their examination marks on June 20th at 11AM from their respective schools or examination centers. They can also apply for scrutiny on June 20th in case they are not satisfied with their marks. The minimum aggregate necessary to pass remains at 33% with 272 marks being the minimum requirement.
Yesterday, West Bengal Higher-Secondary Council President, Chiranjib Bhattacharya declared that the 2024 Class 12 Examinations would take place from 14th to 27th March. Suprisingly, the Council had decided to reduce the minimum marks required to pursue Science in Class 11 to 35%. This decision came on June 7th after the declaration of Class 10 Results of West Bengal Board.
