The Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence and the glorious history of its people, culture, and achievements.
The official journey of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav started on 12th March 2021, which is the countdown of 75 weeks to our 75th anniversary of independence, and will end a year later on 15th August 2024. The following are the five themes of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav means the elixir of energy of independence; the elixir of inspiration of the warriors of the freedom struggle; the elixir of new ideas and pledges; and the elixir of Aatmanirbharth. Therefore, this Mahotsav is a festival of the awakening of the nation; the festival of fulfilling the dream of good governance; and the festival of global peace and development “– Narendra Modi [prime minister of India].
Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav encourages people to bring the Tiranga home and hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s independence. Our relationship with the flag has always been more formal and institutional than personal.
Bringing the flag home collectively as a nation in the 75th year of independence thus becomes symbolic of an act of personal connection to the Tiranga and an embodiment of our commitment to nation-building.
The idea behind the initiative is to invoke the feeling of patriotism in people’s hearts and promote awareness about the Indian National Flag.

Freedom Struggle
This theme anchors our commemoration initiatives under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. It helps bring alive stories of unsung heroes whose sacrifices have made freedom a reality for us and also revisits the milestones, freedom movements, etc. in the historical journey to August 15, 1947.
Ideas@75
This theme focuses on programmes and events inspired by ideas and ideals. The world as we know it is changing, and a new world is unfolding. The strength of our convictions will determine the longevity of our ideas. Events and programmes under this theme include popular, participatory initiatives that help bring alive India’s unique contribution to the world.
Resolve@75
This theme focuses on our collective resolve and determination to shape the destiny of our motherland. The road to 2047 requires each of us to rise and play our roles as individuals, groups, civil society, governance institutions, and so on.Only through our collective resolve, well-laid action plans, and determined efforts will ideas translate into actions. events and preprogrammed.
Actions@75
This theme focuses on all the efforts that are being undertaken to help India take its rightful position in the new world order emerging in a post-colonial world by highlighting the steps being taken to implement policies and actualize commitments.
Achievements@75
This theme focuses on marking the passage of time and all our milestones along the way. It is intended to grow into a public account of our collective achievements as a 75-year-old independent country with a legacy of 5000+ years of ancient history.
