A horrible incident happened on Saturday, 2nd April 2022, when a woman and her one-and-a-half-year-old child were set ablaze alive for resisting sexual abuse. Near Natham village, Dindigul district, Tamil Nadu, the brother-in-law of a woman named Anjali, burnt the 22-year-old woman and her child to death. Â
According to the news report published by DT Next news agency, the victim and her husband, Sivakumar, a daily-wage worker, living in a joint family where the brother of Sivakumar, Karuppaiah used to allegedly misbehave and torture Anjali.
During the incident day, Sivakumar left for work and Anjali, the wife went to herd sheep with her child. The 30-year-old, brother-in-law followed her and tried to abuse her sexually. The accused hijacked her and the child when she shouted for help. Â
Thereafter, he set ablaze the woman and her child alive to death. The husband filed a complaint with the Natham police and the police have filed a case against Karuppaiah under IPC sections 302 and 201. When the incident came to light on Saturday night, the villagers thrashed the accused.
He was then admitted to Dindigul Government Hospital for treatment.
