Made In Heaven is a 2019 Indian Drama series which streamed on Amazon Prime. The producers recently came out with a second season after making audiences and fans wait for over four years.
Made In Heaven- Season 1Â
The show revolves around Tara Khanna and Karan Mehra, best friends who run a wedding planning event management company. They encounter various couples during this process and the show delves into social problems in upper class families in India where there is a layer of liberalism and deep down there are roots of the older traditions that people are gradually growing out of.
The show’s protagonists, Tara Khanna played by Sobhita Dhulipala and Karan Mehra played by Arjun Mathur. Tara is married to Industrialist Adil Khanna who is played by Jim Sarbh. Tara Khanna is from a middle class family and she climbs the social ladder and gets a job as Adil Khanna’s assistant and they fall in love. But the relationship goes into shambles when he starts cheating on her with Faiza Naqvi, played by Kalki Koechlin.
In between her shattered marriage and her work she chooses to thrive in her very successful company. The first season ends on a tragic note and leaves audiences curious as to what the duo does to rebuild their life, that is the company. The show also has actors like Vijay Raaz, Shashank Arora and Dalip Tahil.
Made In Heaven- Season 2
The entire team of Made In Heaven returned with their second season on 10th august 2024 which was an early release. All characters resume their roles and this time the circle has a couple of new members. Mona Singh, introduced as Bulbul Jauhari, who is Mr. Jauhari’s wife, played by Vijay Raaz, packed a punch with her performance. They also introduced Trinetra Haldar as Meher, a trans woman who is finding her place in the city with her new love life.
The well written characters do not take away from the essence of the plot, we rather get a lot more invested into each recurring character’s lives. Every episode, the team has to plan a new grand wedding along with dealing with their own problems. Tara Khanna as she deals with her divorce settlements, Karan as he copes with his mother’s terminal illness and Bulbul Jauhari and her son’s misdoings.
Jazz, who is played by Shivangi Raghuvanshi, is completely infatuated with Shashank Arora’s character, Kabir Basrai who is the official videographer of the weddings. They tackle through a myriad of problems in their equation and what is left to see is if they come out victorious.
The show’s way of dealing with societal issues whilst making it look entertaining is what is commendable. The cream of the society as we picture it from the outside, may look shiny and very cosy. But what we do not see is the blatant discrimination that is still prevalent in such parts of the society.
One of the episodes that got a lot of popularity and appreciation is the one where a Dalit Bddhist wedding is featured with Radhika Apte as the bride from the community. The elements of the wedding shown are beautiful and made people talk about it in a good way.
