The “Euphoria” diva last attended the glamorous event in 2019, where she wore a Cinderella-inspired gown that also lit up.Â

For the second year in a row, the “Euphoria” star will be absent from the Met Gala. When she chatted with “Extra” correspondent Rachel Lindsay at the FYC Emmys “Euphoria” event in Los Angeles this week, the 25-year-old confessed why she was going to skip the major event.
“I don’t want to disappoint my fans here, but I’m going to work,” Zendaya explained. “Since your girl needs to work and make some films, I wish everyone the best. While Zendaya will miss fashion’s biggest night out this year, she has stated that she will return later.Â
The star of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” attended the Met Gala for the first time in 2019. The next year, as a result of the coronavirus epidemic, New York City was placed under lockdown, and the 2020 Met Gala was postponed.
She embodied the theme of “Camp: Notes on Fashion” during the 2019 event, donning a stunning, Cinderella-like ballgown by Tommy Hilfiger that also lights up.
In 2018, she channeled Joan of Arc and wore a stunning silver Versace gown that appeared to be adorned with armour. Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination was that year’s subject.
Zendaya, on the other hand, did not attend the event in 2021 due to the completion of her work on “Euphoria,” the first time she had not gone since her red-carpet debut at the 2015 Met Gala. Â
“My fans are going to be furious with me,” she told “Extra” in the run-up to the 2021 fundraising event. “Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend due to work on “Euphoria.
“The 2022 Met Gala will be themed “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” a follow-up to September’s “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.” Additionally, the Met Gala will invite visitors to create their own interpretations of American dress from 1870 to 1890.
Vogue reports that the dress code will be “gilded splendour, white tie” in homage to New York’s Gilded Age. The 2022 Met Gala will take place on May 2 at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.Â
