Zepto is a grocery delivery app that promises to deliver any good to any location within or under ten minutes.
HIGHLIGHTS –
- Zepto is a ten-minute grocery delivery app.
- It was founded by two 19-year-old Stanford dropouts Aadit Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra.
- This App idea came up in July 2021, in the midst of covid lockdown when the need for at-home delivery was at its peak.
Aadit and Kaivalya are childhood friends who were given the opportunity to start the first quarter of their graduation online. But they had other plans – they wanted to try their luck in business instead.
The two came back to Mumbai and began exploring different areas. Just then a nationwide lockdown was announced, and it kept going on for weeks after weeks.
It became difficult for them to make ends meet and like thousands of others, the two friends were stuck at home.
Companies like Big Basket and Grofers were sending away employees in thousands and as supplies were hit, It was tough for them to fulfill the needs of the citizens.
That is when the idea of quick grocery delivery struck them. They started KiranaKart by pairing up with local shops and quickly delivering groceries.
However, they soon realized they needed a larger depot where they could store goods for online delivery. With this, they shut KiranaKart and started Zepto.
The headquarter of Zepto is in Parel, Maharashtra with total funding of $360 million and a valuation of 900 million. Aadit Panchal is the current CEO of the company.
The groceries in Zepto are delivered via a system of mini-warehouses and dark storefronts. The company claims to have 87 dark stores.
The main competitors of Zepto are BigBasket, Blinkit, and Instamart.
According to trustworthy sources, Zepto delivers approximately 8,000-10,000 orders every day.
The biggest asset of Zepto is its 10-minute delivery policy and the two Stanford dropouts expect more growth and success in the future.
