10 Best Gay movies in 2021 


The year 2021 saw the reopening of many cinemas around the world, allowing us to once again enjoy the screening of a plethora of incredible films throughout the year in actual theatres. When it comes to LGBTQ+ cinema, it has historically been overlooked, or LGBTQ+ characters have fallen into tropes that have failed to expand or serve a secondary purpose to central characters when they have appeared in mainstream media. There have been many years in which the LGBTQ+ experience has been conspicuously absent from mainstream cinema; however, the year 2021 has been a particularly strong and significant one. Here is a look at the top ten LGBTQ+ films set to be released in 2021. 

10. Everybody is talking about Jamie

Jamie New is a 16-year-old who isn’t quite sure where he belongs. His ambition is not to pursue a traditional profession, but rather to become a drag queen. Uncertain about his future, Jamie is certain of one thing: he’s going to be a sensation when the time comes. Jamie overcomes discrimination and bullying with the help of his loving mother and amazing friends, allowing him to step out of the shadows and into the spotlight for the first time.

9. Benedetta

In Benedetta, Virginie Efira portrays Benedetta Carlini, a novice nun in the 17th century who joins an Italian convent and develops a lesbian love affair with another nun. Benedetta is a biographical drama film directed and co-written by Paul Verhoeven, and it was release in 2021

8. Eternals

Eternals is a superhero film slated for release in 2021 that is based on the Marvel Comics race of the same name. Marvel Studios’ Phase Four film, Captain America: Civil War, is the twenty-sixth instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film was released on November 5, 2021, according to the studio. Chloé Zhao is in charge of the direction and co-writing of the film. 

The Eternals is a new Marvel Studios film that introduces an exciting new team of Super Heroes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Eternals are ancient aliens who have been secretly residing on Earth for thousands of years. Immediately following the events of Avengers: Endgame, a tragic event forces them to emerge from the shadows in order to unite against mankind’s most ancient adversary, the Deviants.

7.Swan song

When Cameron Turner, a devoted husband and father, is diagnosed with a terminal illness, he is presented with the option of sparing his family the pain of losing him by having him replaced by a clone of himself. Turner is torn about whether or not he should bring up the subject with his wife.

They are surprised to learn that Adam’s husband Will purchased the lesson as a surprise for him in order to help him brush up on his Spanish, as he was raised in a variety of countries throughout Latin America.

Titane is a body horror drama film written and directed by Julia Ducournau that will be released in 2021. A titanium plate is implanted into the head of Alexia, who is played by Agathe Rousselle in her feature film debut. Alexia was injured in a car accident when she was a child and has a titanium plate implanted in her head. Vincent Lindon, Garance Marillier, and Las Salameh appear as supporting characters. With its subversion of the male gaze and subsequent transformation into a lesbian love story, the film stands out among the other films released this year as being quite different from the rest.
