Life Imprisonment for 13 Accused
Vijayawada:
After a lengthy legal process, the district court has handed down life imprisonment sentences to thirteen individuals involved in the murder of a young boy and the brutal assault on another youth in Adavuladeevi village in 2016. The verdict, delivered by Magistrate G Malathi of the Tenali 11th additional district court in Bapatla district on Wednesday, brings some closure to the tragic incident that unfolded several years ago.
A Seven-Year Wait for Justice
The case revolves around the tragic death of Jasmin, a woman residing in the Muslim Colony of Adavuladeevi village, Nizampatnam mandal. Jasmin was found hanging in her house, leading to speculations about her alleged love affair with her boyfriend, Sri Sai. The villagers, blaming Sri Sai and his friend Pavan Kumar for her death, resorted to vigilante justice, subjecting both men to brutal beatings that resulted in Sri Sai’s death and severe injuries to Pavan Kumar.

Following a complaint filed by Pavan Kumar, the police initiated a comprehensive investigation. They identified twenty-one individuals as the accused in the case. Unfortunately, four suspects passed away during the investigation, while another four were acquitted of all charges. However, justice prevailed as the remaining thirteen accused were found guilty and convicted for their roles in the crime.
Shocking Details Emerge from Investigation
The court’s decision to impose life imprisonment on the convicted individuals serves as a stern reminder of the consequences faced by those who take the law into their own hands. The seven-year legal process underscores the complexity of the case and the authorities’ commitment to ensuring a fair trial.
The verdict brings some relief to the victim’s family and the survivor, Pavan Kumar, who has endured physical and emotional trauma since the incident. Moreover, the judgment serves as a deterrent, sending a clear message that the law will not tolerate vigilantism.
