For all the ‘Fairytale Factory’ Fans scattered worldwide, it was a moment of glee and delight when the news of 1500 Disneyland artefacts going under the hammer was announced!
Joel Magee, a Disney aficionado has decided to open the gates of a building in Burbank, California that houses a smorgasbord of Disney movies’ relics! Fans can now, apart from an adventurous experience, also take back souvenirs as Magee puts 1500 collectibles up for auction from 17th July to 19th July.
Van Eaton Galleries’ owner and the event’s auctioneer, Mike Van Eaton, who lauds the covetable collection of the accumulator, predicts that the Haunted Mansion items like the doom buggy ride and the rare stretch paintings from the elevator will be the hottest selling articles.
Some pieces are price tagged INR 4100, while others like the Dumbo vehicle may go up to more than 2 crores! The auction will also feature a plethora of posters worth almost 40-50 lakhs and umpteen trash cans from the park that will be priced at about 4-5 lakh rupees!
An Exciting Exhibition for Disney Lovers
Joel, who has amassed an envious collection of mementos, has dedicated an entire building to the charm of ‘The Magic Kindgom’! The house echoes with birds warbling in the Enchanted Tiki Room, every poster that was ever put up in the park, and the animated ghosts add their own bit of jollity to the Haunted Mansion ride.
Opening up and exhibiting his treasures that range from a tiny trading card to as grand as a Model T moving van from the original Main Street in Disneyland, Joel hopes to see people’s eyes sparkle as they gaze and lay their hands on the items that he has amassed arduously over the past three decades!
The much-awaited exhibition will take place on July 16th, at the Burbank Town Center Mall.
Joel Magee: Owner of the Biggest Disney Collection
Magee, who has more than 6000 curios from the world of Disney, including exclusive posters, life-size automobiles from Dumbo and Peter Pan, character trinkets, and ensembles, believes in ‘do or die’ and always going for the biggest fish.
“If you don’t have the biggest, then it ain’t the best,” says the cognoscenti, who boast of having the greatest individually-owned Disney Land/Park assortment in the world!
Having all his collectibles in one room for the first time, was an exciting and wondrous moment for ‘The Toy Scout’, as he’s monikered in the collectible industry.

Joel, since childhood, had been an avid connoisseur of the ‘imagination land’ and watching “The Wonderful World of Disney ” every week on the screen had never surmised one day he’d be the owner of this magnificent array of magical artefacts!
A chance encounter with a purveyor of Disney antiques at a toy show stirred up the idea of gathering keepsakes from his favourite films as a wonderful reminder. This soon became an obsession and since then he’s been hooked on scouting, polishing, and preserving his collection from every nook and corner.
Initially, his small wallet couldn’t afford much. Gradually, bit by bit, Magee grew his collection and for the last 25 years has been meeting variegated people in his travels who bring him their stuff, which is now open for the public’s eye.
This event is a much-anticipated and once-in-a-life-time experience for all the ‘Fairytale World’ fanatics out there.
