Udaipur: Udaipur, the city of lakes, is set to hold 4-day long first Sherpa meeting under India’s G20 presidency from December 4-7. 

First Sherpa meeting in Udaipur

The four-day gathering (4-07 December 2022) of the Sherpas of G20 Members, invited countries and International Organizations, will set the stage for important conversations on some of the most pressing issues of our time, including technological transformation, green development and LiFE, spotlighting women-led development, accelerating implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), facilitating inclusive and resilient growth, and multilateral reforms.

The Sherpa meeting will work to reach consensus on a diverse range of global issues in various G20 Workstreams, and bring the focus to key global priorities. 

Preparations in Udaipur

As per the G20 website, the first Sherpa meeting will also offer the delegates a unique ‘Indian experience’ through cultural performances, art exhibitions, and excursions to various destinations including locations such as the Kumbhalgarh Fort – a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the Ranakpur Temple Complex.

Day-wise Schedule of first Sherpa meeting

December-4: Folk artists will welcome the delegates at Sheeshmahal of Hotel Leela. The panel discussion will be held.

December-5: Formal sessions will be conducted on various issues. Cultural programme `Colors of Rajasthan` at Jagmandir Palace will be held for foreign delegates and visitors in the evening.

December-6: Formal sessions will continue. A presentation on various art styles of India will be shown at Manak Chowk, the city palace of Udaipur.

December-7: Cultural presentation will be held in Ranakpur. Free flowing session without set agenda will also take place.

This is the first of 200 meeting to be held 55 locations across India in next one year. India, under its presidency, is showing its cultural heritage and beauty of diversity of Indian society. G20 is a group of developed and emerging economies with 19 countries and the European Union. India will hold main G20 summit on 9-10 September, 2023 in New Delhi.
