The 36th National Games of India 2022 which was held in Gujarat concluded with a grand closing ceremony
National sports tournament 2022 was held in Gujarat. It was the 36th national sport tournament which was held after seven years gap, which was lastly held by Kerala in 2015. This year the tournament was hosted by Gujarat for the first time and was organised in six mega cities of Gujarat including Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, and Barnagar. The motto of 36th National Games is to promote Indian sports and to celebrate unity through sports the message is vividly seen in the tagline of the National Games i.e. Judega India Jitega India.
The fifteen-day sports tournament started on the 29th of September 2022 and ended on October 12, 2022. In this sports tournament, there were 36 teams from various states and union territories, along with the armed services . There were a total of 7000 athletes participating across the country.
Out of all the participants, Maharashtra, Haryana, and Karnataka secured the top three positions in the list. Maharashtra, with a total of 140 medals, which includes 39 gold, 38 silver, and 63 bronze, secured first position in the competition. Haryana, with a total of 116 medals, which includes 38 gold, 38 silver and 40 bronze, secured second position, and Karnataka, with a total of 88 medals, including 27 gold, 23 silver and 38 bronze, secured third position in the tournament.
The National Game 2022 was fantastically inaugurated and concluded with various cultural events and performances. At the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the participant teams. At the closing ceremony of the National Games 2022, the Honorable Vice President, Shri Jagdeep Dhankar, addressed the gathering. He said India’s bid to host the Olympics became stronger after the successful organisation of the National Games 2022.
