A 37-year-old man named Vipin Lal was stabbed to death by a group of men last Sunday in Poochakkal in the Alappuzha district of Kerala.
The murder allegedly occurred from a fight over an inappropriate WhatsApp voice message sent to Vipin’s friend’s sister. The FIR names five men as accused, according to a police officer from the local station.
Vipin Lal, a resident of Thyakkatussery, Poochakkal, was the owner of a lorry used to transport sewage waste. The fight involved a vulgar voice note sent to the sister of the murdered person’s friend over WhatsApp.
The friend was working as a driver. Media outlets reported that the duo and the other group were involved in a row as the deceased and his friend confronted the group of seven men over the issue.
The band of men attacked them, and Vipin suffered from severe wounds. According to reports, people rushed him to a private hospital in the district. But Vipin succumbed to death on the route to the hospital. The death occurred at 12: 30 AM on Sunday.
The police informed that they would shift the body to the Alappuzha Government Medical College for an autopsy.
A PERSON ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH THE MURDER
Kerala police have arrested a man named Sujith associated with the murder. They are trying to track the other members of the gang who are supposedly in hiding.
According to the police, this was not the first fight, and the men were involved in the issue earlier.
Clashes had erupted earlier between the men over the inappropriate messages sent, and the gang stopped Vipin on the road on Sunday.
He was then brutally beaten and stabbed to death. This murder occurred during the early hours of the day.
They clarified that this was not a politically motivated murder. The police officer also added that the head injury caused by an iron rod was the cause of Vipin’s death.
THERE WERE FIGHTS BEFORE, SAY LOCAL RESIDENTS
Residents told media outlets that there had been fights between the two groups before on the same issue. Heated arguments ensued over the problem, but no severe consequence followed.
They also added that a brawl of this scale has never happened before between the men.

The victim, Surya Gayathri, was continuously stabbed by a man called Arun in her rented home in the district of Thiruvananthapuram. He also beat her up before stabbing her.
Reports suggest that the deceased and the accused have known each other for four years. The locals and later caught the accused and handed him over to the police. The police said that this was not his first criminal charge.

Similarly, in March 2019, a suitor hacked a young woman to death at Tiruvalla for rejecting his proposal.
