1. On September 18, the girl was reported missing. According to police, she arrived in Rishikesh around 8 p.m. that night with Pulkit Arya, resort manager Saurabh Bhaskar, and another accused named Ankit, alias Pulkit Gupta.

2. On the way back, the trio drank alcohol by a canal on Chila Road. The girl had to wait until they finished their drinks.

3. After some time, a fight erupted between the trio and the girl. The girl accused the three men of engaging in illegal activities at Pulkit Arya’s resort and threatened to go public. The three allegedly pushed the girl into the canal in a fit of rage.

4. On Friday, police announced that the missing report had been upgraded to a murder investigation. The owner of the resort, Pulkit Arya, was also arrested, along with assistant manager Ankit Gupta and manager Saurabh Bhaskar, by Uttarakhand’s Pauri Garhwal Police.

5. On Friday, all three accused were brought before a court and sentenced to 14 days in judicial custody.

The girl’s father claimed that the accused molested her and that audio of the incident was recorded.

The 19-year-old girl lived in Pauri Garhwal’s Srikot village. She was working as a receptionist at Arya’s private resort in the Laxman Jhula area. Her family filed a missing persons report after she was unable to be located on September 18.

An FIR was filed three days later, on September 21, based on the missing complaint.

Authorities apprehended the three accused in the murder case on Friday and stated that they threw her into the body of water after a disagreement. “Sections 302 and 201 of the IPC — murder and concealment of evidence — have been slapped on the accused,” Pauri Garhwal SSP said, adding that she drowned in the incident.

“The young lady had been missing for five days. The area is under the jurisdiction of the revenue police. A missing persons report was filed with the revenue police. The case was transferred to Laxman Jhula Police on Thursday, and all three accused were arrested within 24 hours “Ashok Kumar, the DGP of Uttarakhand, told India Today.

The girl’s body has not yet been recovered, and an SDRF (state disaster response force) team is looking for her, according to police.

Pulkit Arya, the resort’s owner, is the son of former state minister Vinod Arya. According to a source, Pulkit became embroiled in controversy even during the pandemic lockdown after entering a restricted area in Uttarkashi with a controversial Uttar Pradesh leader, Amarmani Tripathi. Tripathi is accused of murdering a woman and has been imprisoned for 14 years.

Vinod Arya, the culprit’s father

Vinod Arya, Pulkit’s father, is a well-known name in the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is currently a member of the BJP OBC Morcha’s national executive. He is also the co-in-charge of UP and a former minister of state. Ankit Arya, his other son, is a minister of state. Currently, he serves as the vice-chairman of the Uttarakhand OBC Welfare Commission.

Pulkit is currently the main suspect in the murder of the 19-year-old hotel receptionist.

According to police, the resort owner and the other two accused have been missing since the day the girl went missing.

Residents of Rishikesh staged protests against the heinous crime on Friday. Hundreds of civilians were seen surrounding a police vehicle allegedly carrying the three murder suspects in images obtained by India Today.

The images showed a large number of women, some of whom were leaning into the police vehicle in an attempt to confront the perpetrators.

Locals were so outraged that they vandalised the resort owned by the main accused, Pulkit.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) rescue team recovered the murdered victim’s body from the Chilla canal in Rishikesh this morning.
