4 star studded movies in India in different languages make history in 100 years. The movies collectively broke all time Indian BO records after 100 years.
August 11 to August 13 was the busiest weekend for all film enthusiasts. Four commercial movies had their opening over the weekends that definitely raised a competition. However the box office collection doesn’t show any loss. In fact the Multiplex Association of India and the Producers Guild of India declared that the weekend from August 11 to August 13 was the busiest weekend after the movie release.
Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG 2’ (in Hindi), Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’ (in Hindi), Superstar Rajnikanth’s ‘Jailer’ (in Tamil) and Chiranjeevi’s ‘Bholaa Shankar’ (in Telugu) hit the box office at around the same time and all the four films are doing extremely good in the box office as well.
A box office record of ₹390 crore was calculated as the collective revenue of these four films. This gross revenue created history as it made a new record in all time theatrical gross revenue collection after 100 years.
2.10 crore tickets were sold collectively to the audiences for their favourite movies in their nearest theaters across the country, which is also the highest combined record of audiences in the last 10 year history.

‘Gadar 2‘ earned ₹135 crore revenue in their opening week, becoming the second highest opener of the year after King Khan’s ‘Pathaan’. ‘Jailer’ had a great weekend with ₹150 crore in just 4 days after it was released on August 14. ‘OMG 2’ earned ₹43.06 crore while Chiranjeevi’s ‘Bholaa Shankar’ earned ₹25 crore after it hit the box office, as per the Times of India report.
Film Association’s review
The president of Producers Guild of India, Shibasish Sarkar said that this record breaking achievement happened because of the change in the making of mainstream cinema. He gave complete credit to the filmmaking team, cast and crew and the story. He further said that a new energy has been raised in the industry which led the audiences to respond in numbers that have not seen for a very long time. It is seen that even the early morning shows are getting sold out rapidly over the weekend. “
Kamal Gianchandani, the president of Multiplex Association of India also commented about this situation. He referred to this weekend as the historic weekend of all times. He further said that the weekend was also an incredible demonstration of movies being the ultimate place to be part of a shared experience. Films across the country would like to thank and congratulate the Filmmakers for crossing the limits and delivering an unforgettable experience to their viewers. “This weekend shows that movies and cinemas are back in a big, big way. We look forward to this momentum continuing in the rest of 2024”.

Gadar 2, released on August 11, was a huge success as an opener. The movie is about Tara Singh who goes to Pakistan to rescue his son, Jeete from the Pakistani General. This film is an action-thriller which is a sequel of the 2001 ‘Gadar- Ek Prem Katha’. The audiences are loving the film and are leaving good reviews.
Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG 2’ released on the same day but didn’t really have competition. It seems as if people already knew what they would like and made OMG 2 was also a huge hit. This movie revolves around a spiritual ground and raises concern about one of the most important features of the country.
‘Jailer’ and ‘Bholaa Shankar‘ are South action-thriller movies which received immense appreciation. Rajnikanth’s comeback in ‘Jailer’ raised the bar even higher. Meanwhile Chiranjeevi’s ‘Bholaa Shankar’ also was a commendable experience as said by some fans.Â
