This year’s Met Gala will be hosted by Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Regina King, and Lin-Manuel Miranda. The theme is In America: An Anthology of Fashion, which puts the unsung and anonymous heroes of US design in the spotlight.
The biggest fashion night of the year is finally here. The countdown to the Met Gala has begun. This fashion event will be held in New York City tomorrow. Several celebrities will be expected to grace the red carpet and present their interpretation of the theme. So the Met Gala will be hosted by the greatest, funniest people—Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Regina King, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Moreover there are certain guidelines that needs to be followed by the guests this year.
So here are five unique yet weird rules for attending the Met Gala.
AGE RESTRICTION
People under the age of 18 are barred from attending the Met Gala for the fashion soiree. As it is not appropriate for people under the age of 18 to attend this fashion soiree, as it was confirmed in a discussion,
BAN ON SELFIES
It was 2015 when this certain rule was passed to ban selfies during the event. This was to prevent them from constantly checking their phones. A notice sent to all guests stated, “The use of phones for photography and social media will not be permitted inside the gala.” Although in the year 2017 the popular bathroom selfies was captured by Kylie Jenner.
NO SMOKING Rule
In 2017, celebrities including Bella Hadid and Dakota Johnson were snapped smoking in the bathroom at the Met Gala. The board members and donors later expressed their displeasure over guests smoking at the event, as it shows disrespect towards the art collection. So later on in the year 2018, the rule was passed on that it is illegal to smoke in the Musuem.
NO ONION BREATH Rule
The Met Gala doesn’t serve any strong pungent-flavored foods, so neither onion nor garlic is served at the event in order to avoid bad breath.
STRICT SEATING ARRANGEMENTS
Director of the Special Projects, Sylvana Ward Durrett at Vogue informed earlier that the “power brokering” goes into the seating plan. According to Sylvana, “A lot of thought goes into who sits next to who, if they sat together last year, if they’ve sat next to each other at other events, so much goes into it, it’s shocking,”
