All key numbers indicate that the COVID-19 pandemic in India is at its lowest point since the outbreak’s inception. The country had the fewest cases and deaths in the previous week since March-April 2020, while active cases fell below 10,000 for the first time since April 2020, and the seven-day test positivity rate had dropped to less than 0.6%.
COVID-19 Becoming Endemic?
According to the ministry website, active cases account for 0.02 percent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.79 percent. According to the ministry’s website, the country has received 219.81 crore doses of the COVID-19 vaccine as part of the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive.
Another sign that the pandemic is fading and entering the endemic stage in India is that the official count of active Covid cases in the country has fallen below 10,000 for the first time since April 2020. On Monday, the Union Health Ministry’s website reported 9,468 active cases, down from 12,307 the day before. According to TOI’s database, the active case count was last less than 10,000 on April 14, 2020. (at 9,724). Meanwhile, the seven-day test positivity rate (TPR) – the percentage of positive samples out of the total – has dropped to 0.59%, the lowest level since the pandemic’s early days.
