Mr. Ganesan, a rare Manipur governor to have transferred his vote to the state, has been appointed with additional charge of West Bengal.
BJP has chosen, Mr. Ganesan as the temporary replacement of Mr. Jagdeep Dhankhar in the West Bengal Raj Bhavan. He is one of the most prominent RSS veterans of southern India and the former BJP Tamil Nadu president.
On 5th February, just after six months after he moved to Imphal, he was enrolled as a voter in Sagolband in Imphal West district.
He is known for his active participation, meeting people, touring districts and talking about government schemes. During covid he played a great role by organizing interactive programs with leaders, to get support for successful vaccination drive.
BJP being in power in Manipur can arise few points of conflicts, that may not take place in West Bengal. The chief minister Mamata Banerjee had a constant tussle with Governor, Jagdeep Dhankhar after his appointment as governor in 2019. Dhankhar is going to move to the Center with the NDA for the Vice- President nomination.
Ganesan moved from RSS to the BJP in the early 1990s, when he worked as the general secretary in charge of the organization in the party. He held the post till the 2003. He can speak Telegu, Malayalam and Hindi, the party observed through some the toughest times. The BJP tied up with J Jayalalithaa’s AIADMK under him.
Later Ganesan was credited with getting the DMK by the side of BJP, along with Cho Ramaswamy. He has also helped BJP to develop links with the Tamil Nadu immigration in Sri Lanka, Europe and Asia. Unlike the new BJP leaders, Ganesan enjoyed the cordial relations with leaders in the political spectrum.
He wrote songs like, “Ore Naadu (One Nation)” which has become the mouthpiece pf the BJP in Tamil Nadu. He also started “Pottramaria (Golden Lotus)”, a group of Tamil scholars from all over the world.
