The border with Slovakia is in check by the Czech government as a new migrant wave seems to be approaching.
On the 251-kilometer border, people will be stopped and banned with the exceptions of farmers, fishermen, and foresters who are working in the border area. A total of 560 personnel have been deployed to carry out the project. This measure will effectively be starting from 27th, Thursday. This whole process is estimated to last for 10 total days.
The Slovakia government on the other hand has accepted the Czech’s decision but wants to take matters to the EU.
The interior ministry of Czech has explained the measures taken by saying, in this year alone, almost 12,000 illegal migrants were detained on the Czech territory. Most of the migrants were from Syria. This number is reportedly more than the massive immigration of Europe in 2015. Smugglers were amongst these huge numbers. A total of 125 smugglers alone were detained by the police.
The ministry says that the refugees are making their way to the west by using Czech republic as a transit country.
