The sequel to the groundbreaking original film, Black Panther, is expected to build on the first film’s great legacy.
Wakanda Forever:
Chadwick Boseman‘s terrible death has left a massive void globally, both in terms of his physical loss and his sudden absence from the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe. But, as they say, the show must go on, and Black Panther 2, officially titled “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” is currently in the works.
The film is anticipated to pay tribute to the late star while expanding the fantastic world he helped create. Black Panther 2 will return audiences to Wakanda and explore the nation’s new status in the world, directed by Ryan Coogler, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Robert Cole.
T’Challa not to be recast:
To the delight of fans everywhere, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige stated in December 2020 that the role of T’Challa would not be recast for Black Panther 2. “Chadwick Boseman was an enormously gifted actor and an amazing individual who influenced all of our lives professionally and emotionally,”
Feige said of the decision during Disney’s Investor’s Day event. T’Challa the Black Panther, as portrayed by him, is legendary and transcends any previous rendition of the character in any medium from Marvel’s past. As a result, they are not going to replace the character.
While the mighty King will remain absent in the film, many of the characters from the first film: “Black Panther,” will return for the sequel.
Plot (Spoiler Alert):
It’s difficult to predict how the plot of Wakanda Forever will unfold without the Black Panther himself. The death of Chadwick Boseman may be reflected in the story, and perhaps the film will start with T’Challa’s burial and then the characters’ reactions to his death.
We know about the script for Black Panther 2 because it will be an emotional ride. Many of the cast members have expressed their surprise at working on this film without the adored actor.
Wakanda and Atlantis are both hidden civilizations with superior technology and militaristic capabilities that chose to isolate themselves from the rest of the world for their safety and, in some ways, fear. Wakanda was concerned that its advanced technology would be misused, and Atlantis feared that surface humans would descend upon the fabled city and ruin it as they had done so many years before.
When these two once-hidden nations collide, their concerns grow even more. The histories of Wakanda and Atlantis are disturbingly connected. Wakanda is the world’s only country that has access to vibranium. However, word of its might spread over the globe, and Namor’s human father goes to Antarctica in search of the rare item.
In Iron Man 2 and Avengers: Endgame, the existence of Atlantis was teased through an easter egg and offhand comments. In the comics, Wakanda and Atlantis have gone to war before, with disastrous results. However, because Wakanda is a landlocked country, it’s unclear how the Atlanteans intend to launch an invasion.
Shooting:
Under the working title “Summer Break,” production on Black Panther 2 began on June 29, 2021, in Trilith Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. It’s possible that filming will take up to six months. Filming was initially scheduled to begin in March 2021 before Boseman’s death, but it was postponed so the writers could adapt the tale tastefully and adequately.
The film was also shot in Worcester, Massachusetts, and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Riri Williams is an engineering student at MIT in the comics, and therefore the sequences filmed there are likely to include her introduction. On August 25, while filming a stunt in Bost, Letitia Wright was involved in an accident that left her with minor injuries.
Expected release date:
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to hit theatres on July 8, 2022, in the United States. The eagerly awaited sequel was supposed to come out two months earlier, on May 7. However, the film had to be redone owing to Chadwick Boseman’s untimely death, which caused a delay in production. Currently, it appears that the picture is on track to meet its release date, with a good ensemble of stars.
