Ghajini is one of the most chilling and thrilling movies in the Bollywood film industry ever since it was released. There is a love-hate relationship between the viewers and the movie for numerous reasons and parts of the movie.
The Storyline: Ghajini
The story revolves around two main characters Kalpana Shetty(Asin) and Sanjay Singhania(Aamir Khan). Kalpana spreads the rumors that Sanjay Singhania, a rich man saw her on a flight and immediately fell for her that he was constantly talking to her about his life and asks her for being his girlfriend and she says yes.Â
Considering her as the girlfriend of such a rich man everyone treats her well, even the company where she worked as a background actress hires her for frontline ads, and the news spreads around the masses via newspapers and television. Where Sanjay starts looking for her, who later falls in love with Kalpana at the very moment he sees her. Kalpana, having no idea who he is and how rich he is, treats him as a normal poor guy named Sachin who she later falls in love with.Â
Kalpana has haters because she once exposed kidnappers to the army, and was planned to be killed by Ghajini, Kalpana is in her apartment which was taken over by Ghajini and his team, where Sanjay joins later, and both Kalpana and Sanjay attempt to be killed by them. Kalpana dies on the spot, still knowing it was Sachin and not Sanjay Singhania.
Somehow Sanjay manages to survive but has a memory loss condition where he remembers people by keeping polaroids with names on them, he later with the help of Sunita a student who got interested in his life by reading his diary and some previous news articles, kills Ghajini and his team as a revenge to Sanjana’s death.
While Sunita by the end manages to get both of Sanjana’s and Sanjay’s foot imprints that Kalpana made for her new apartment, Sanjay recovered from his memory loss completely and leads a calm and peaceful life as Kalpana used to while engaging in charity work as her.
The Outcome
The story was the perfect piece of Bollywood for its thrill factor, every time Sanjay and Ghajini interact the movie provides chills to the viewers with a gist of everything including hatred, trauma, and revenge. Love is also perfectly portrayed via the interaction between Kalpana and Sanjay.
Change suggestions
The only change in the movie that can be suggested would be that Kalpana knows she was dating Sanjay Singhania, the man she spread rumors of, and not the poor guy Sachin that he pretended to be just to enjoy the moments as a normal unwealthy being.
