Egyptians have unquestionably been trendsetters for thousands of years. To understand how far ahead of its time their civilization was, one only has to consider the improvements in art and architecture they made while the majority of the rest of the globe was still in the stone age.
Egypt Fashion Week aims to showcase Egypt’s present—a group of artists, artisans, and business leaders who have developed a distinctively contemporary Egyptian DNA—and, most importantly, it is future—a vision and course that unites 5000 years of inspiration, craftsmanship, and resources with today’s know-how and quickly evolving technological trends, enabling Egypt to continue to thrive.
About Egypt Fashion Week
EFW will host runway shows, exhibits, and showcases for Egyptian fashion, accessory, and jewellery designers in addition to local and international fashion institutes including The Azza Fahmy Design Studio, Fashion & Design Centre, Cairo Design District, FAD Dubai, and Creative Space Beirut. Aside from that, visitors may see designer exhibitions organised by the freshly established Saudi Fashion Commission, Lagos Fashion Week, Jordan Fashion Week, and GTEX-ITC.
The programme will also include panel discussions with experts from the local, regional, and global fashion industries on topics such as design, education, production, retail, sustainability, women’s empowerment, and financing.
The co-founder of Egyptian Fashion & Design council Susan Sabet said that they were motivated by the increasing number of up-and-coming designers and the expansion of the local fashion industry to showcase our region’s creative skills and cotton and textile industry to the globe.
Egypt Fashion Week has been planned for nearly four years, but it took this much time to ensure that we would produce an event that would compete favourably with other well-known and respected fashion weeks around the world and dazzle our Egyptian and our international guests, including esteemed leaders in the fashion industry and the media.Â
EFW Strives to link
The EFW programme strives to link the local, African, and Middle Eastern markets via design, craftsmanship, education, sustainability, manufacturing, and retail, going well beyond fashion shows and exhibits. We are incredibly happy and appreciative to have attracted so many eminent speakers, significant global media partners, and attendees to guarantee that Egyptian fashion will be the focus of attention.
The fashion business in Egypt dates back as long as its civilisation, therefore it is about time to resurrect it and offer it to the world in its contemporary image, fostered by the many established talents and developing ones, according to Paul Antaki, co-founder and president of the Egyptian Fashion & Design Council.
Next Egypt Fashion Week
The next Egypt Fashion Week has a lot of obstacles to overcome in its first year, but we are confident in the quality of the results. The Egyptian Fashion and Design Council (EFDC) put forth a lot of effort over the last four years to make this event a huge success. We want all Egyptians to be proud of the locally produced goods that are influenced by the history, present, and future.
BMW Egypt is a platinum sponsor of the EFW. African ExportImport Bank, Premiumcard, and The Cotton Egypt Association are a few further sponsors. The French Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Egypt, L’Oreal, Al Sagheer Salons, and Al Ahram Beverages are other exciting partners for the EFDC.
EFW is being co-produced by Creative Headz, a renowned Austrian company with 15 years of experience producing fashion shows, including MQ Vienna Fashion Week and Thai Silk Fashion Week. It will be held under the auspices of the Ministries of Planning & Economic Development and Agriculture & Land Reformation.
