Cannes is a platform for movies, where movies from all around the world are premiered and showcased. Stalwarts from different countries with diverse talents enter Cannes. This year, India had the opportunity to showcase four movies. Out of which “Kenndy” stole the show.
Anurag Kashyap, along with the star cast of Kennedy, attended the 76th Cannes international Film Festival. He was accompanied by the leads, Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhatt.
Anurag Kashyap’s Movie Kennedey was screened at the midnight screening section of the prestigious gala. “Kennedy ”, managed to impress the audience in the show. It got a seven minute long applause from the audience. Very few movies have the caliber to evoke such kind of response from the audience.Previously, one of Johnny Deeps movie got a huge round of applause from the audience.
The warm-hearted acceptance by the audience left Sunny Leone teary-eyed. She was visibly overwhelmed by all the responses and appreciation. A approximately 6 minute long video shows Anurag and Rahul applauding tirelessly, with the present audience hugging and congratulating the cast and crew members, who were there to attend the premiere at Cannes. Anurag Kashyap had a big smile in his eyes, while he was observing the reaction of the audience. Sunny was visibly crying and complimenting the team for the success.
It is reported that “Kennedy” was inspired by the story that director Sudhir Mishra told Anurag many years ago. The director of the film silently went and touched the feet of Sudhir Mishra, who was also present at the premiere. He sought his blessings and silently thanked him.
Sunny was seen in a body-hugging pink Floyd dress with a slit. Her hairs were neatly pinned back in a bun. Anurag Kashyap was seen wearing a black Nehru cut suit, along with Rahul Bose in a tuxedo.
Kenedy is a story of an insomniac ex-cop, who is dead to the world. He keeps on looking for redemption in different experiences and circumstances. He operates silently for the corrupt system. His existence is intractable, making it easy for him to operate in the environment and commit crimes. His disease is a bane or boon, something to be seen in the movie.
Anurag Kashyap has returned after many years, and that too with a bang. Eleven years ago, he delivered “Gangs of Wasseypur ”, the five-hour-long movie that was a turning point in his career. This too premiered at Cannes, and it shook everyone with its rawness and uniqueness.
The unfiltered use of language with Desi Connect won the hearts of millions. “Gangs of Wasseypur ”, drew the attention of the world to Bolly wood and its caliber. Anurag and his work have time and again pushed the boundaries of Indian Cinema and compelled the world to stop and look toward India.
