Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is personally overseeing arrangements for the grand opposition gathering in the state capital Patna on 23rd June. The motive for the gathering is to challenge the central government BJP in the next Lok Sabha polls. Nitish Kumar believes that the assembly will strengthen their ties with the opposition party and it will facilitate them in the next elections.
The meeting was supposed to be held on 12th of June but was later postponed due to the inconvenience shared by Congress and other parties regarding the date. The mega meeting will be held alongside 17 opposition parties, to discuss the upcoming elections.
Agenda for the forthcoming assembly
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who has extensively traveled across the nation to meet similar-minded leaders, has finally decided to organize an assembly to assert the ties with opposing parties.
Since his departure from the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance and subsequent joining of the opposition platform in August of the previous year, Kumar has consistently advocated for opposition unity.
Nitish Kumar spoke to a reporter, and showed utmost respect to Arwind Kejriwal stating he has been doing a good job however, the Centre is not allowing him to play his role liberally, thus the gathering is pivotal to defeat the opposition BJP.
The opposition party figures will discuss the strategies and plans to battle against BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. They will additionally deliberate on the distribution of seats. Kumar has already proposed a formula of one opposition candidate against one NDA candidate.
Nitish Kumar Meets With Other Opposition Leaders
Nitish Kumar held ample meetings with the opposing figures, he and the deputy minister Tejashwi Yadav met Shiv sena leader Udhav Thackeray at his house, Matoshree, in Mumbai.He also encountered TMC (Trinamool Congress) leader and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee. Bihar Chief Minister, on May 21, convened with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to extend his backing against the Centre’s ordinance that nullifies the Supreme Court ruling granting the Delhi government ultimate authority in officer appointments, transfers, and service-related affairs.
Other meetings were with Akhilesh Yadav, the chief of Samajwadi Party (SP), then Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. These discussions were held before the mega event that is set to be held on 23rd of June.
Attendees At The Upcoming Assembly
The mega opposition assembly is going to be a grand gathering as many big opposition leaders are assumed to be attending the meeting. Nitish Kumar is keeping a close eye on the event and ensuring that the assembly turns out to be fruitful. He instructs the respective officials to plan all the arrangements and ensure the safety during the gathering.
The Bihar Chief Minister is ensuring ample provision of hospitality services. Nitish Kumar himself surveyed the state government guest house and the Patna circuit house, where the VVIP’s will be residing.
The leaders who are going to attend the meeting: Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Arwind Kejriwal, Mamata Banerjee, Mk Stalin, Hemant Soren, Akhilesh Yadav, Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray, Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, Sitaram Yechuri and D. Raja.
All the leaders aforementioned have given their consent for the assembly which is going to be hosted by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav. Lalu Prasad will also be present in the meeting, says Finance Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary.
