Tesla’s Musk says eyeing significant India investments after meeting Modi
New York: Tesla CEO, Twitter owner spacex CEO Elon Musk met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New York on Tuesday. The PM is in the US on a three-day state visit where he is also meeting nearly two dozen “thought leaders”. Musk said he was incredibly excited about the future of India and it has more promise than any other large country in the world.

“The PM really cares about India because he is pursuing us to make a significant investment in India,” he said, adding that he was a “big fan of Modi”. “He wants to be open… he wants to be supportive of new companies and make sure it accrues to India’s advantage. Which, obviously, that’s the job,” the billionaire investor added. It was a fantastic meeting with the Prime Minister and I like him quite a lot. He visited our factory a few years ago. So, we have known each other for a while,” Musk said. “I am incredibly excited about the future of India. I think India has more promise than any large country in the world.” . I would like to thank the prime minister for his support and hopefully we’ll be able to announce something in the not too distant future,” he added.

Talking about investment in India, Musk said that there is a lot of potential in three pillars of sustainable energy future .The three pillars are sustainable energy generation through solar, wind primarily. And obviously, India is great for solar.”
Starlink, is another of Musk’s companies, and he said that he wants to bring it to India as well. “The Starlink Internet which I think can be incredibly helpful for sort of remote or rural villages where they perhaps either may have no access to the internet or the internet is very expensive and slow.” he said.
He further said that the amount of land area you actually need to generate enough electricity to power India is very small.” I believe it’d probably be one or two percent of the land area of India.” said the Tesla CEO. “I am confident that Tesla will be in India and will do so as soon as humanly possible,” Musk said when asked by reporters about Tesla’s plan to invest in India, adding he intended to visit the country next year Musk said last month Tesla would probably pick a location for a new factory by the end of this year, adding India was an interesting place for a new plant.
