Pop superstar Taylor Swift finally released the much-awaited re-recorded version of her album Speak Now today. Speak Now was her third recorded album which was released back in 2010.
This album contains 16 songs which were in the original album back in 2010 including the deluxe tracks. Along with these, it also contains 7 never before heard songs which she labels as songs from the Vault. The Vault songs contain features from artists such as Fall Out Boy and Hayley Williams. Originally, this album was unique because all of the songs were written entirely by Taylor herself therefore, when talking about the album and it’s tracks last month, Swift said that while considering the collaborations, she had decided to choose artists who influenced her the most as a lyricist. The Vault songs also give the hint of Taylor’s crossover from country music to rock or pop music with its pretty piano melody or the dominant electric guitar melody. The original album was wholly a country album with only one of the songs, Mine having a pop version to it.
Swift first announced the re-release of this album in one of her Era’s tour concerts back in May of this year. Following the announcement, there was much anticipation among the fans and along with it, there were many speculations going on about the songs and the collaborations. One of the most popular topics was whether or not there would be some lyrical changes to some of her old released songs, mainly her song Better than revenge. Better than revenge was said to have some controversial lyrics as many people said that it was misogynistic. And this speculation was right, Taylor did replace the lyrics of Better than revenge for that particular line. Many eager fans also noticed slight changes in the time durations of each song from the original album. After the release of the album, many are also saying that one of the Vault songs might be about Emma Stone. Nevertheless the fans all over the world are rejoicing this new album release.
This marks as Taylor’s third re-recorded album in the “Taylor’s Version” group following her albums Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and RED (Taylor’s Version). These re recording is her attempt to regain her catalogues which she was refused the sale of in 2020. Now only three more albums are left for release in this re-recorded version because her original catalogue included six albums. This album came out after more than 1.5 years of the re-release of her album RED. In this significant time gap, she released her 8th studio album Midnights last year and along with that she announced and started her Era’s tour. Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) was announced and released while her tour is continuing.
While the re-recorded album just recently released and is not even a day old, it may be safe to expect that this might be leading the charts very soon. The album is out on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes end all other major streaming platforms.
