Rudra- The Edge of Darkness is an upcoming psychological-crime-thriller web series that has been created by the Disney+Hotstar. It is based on the British TV show- Luther. The series shows Ajay Devgn, Esha Deol, and Raashi Khanna in the lead roles. Actor Ajay Devgn talked about his character and called it “suave, nuanced, and mindful.” He described his position and called the concept of Rudra to be intriguing to him. Rudra is a wise cop who uses impeccable mind skills to stay ahead of criminals. Rudra does not believe in the usage of weapons to answer the question of violence. Instead, he uses his analytical and critical skills in play, where he observes the peculiar details first. This is the primary reason which drew Ajay Devgn to play the role, as he told in an interview.
Rudra-The Edge of Darkness is a story that implores the dark side and engages the audience in a cop’s journey of uncovering and bringing justice to the innocent victims. This story will see Ajay Devgn’s character as an intuitive and instinctive police officer. Such a cop who is fighting for the truth but in the darkness as he paves his way to through the complexities of crime, criminals, and corruption.
The series is to be released in seven languages that include- Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Bengali. The characters in the series have- Ajay Devgn as DCP Rudraveer “Rudra” Singh, Esha Deol as Shaila Addagatla, Raashi Khanna as Dr. Aliyah Choksi, Atul Kulkarni, Ashwini Kalsekar as Commissioner Deepali Handa, Ashish Vidyarthi, Milind Gunaji, Luke Kenny, Vikram Singh Chauhan, Hemant Kher, and Saad Chaudhary.
A total of the six episodes of the first season will premiere on 4 March 2022 on the aforementioned platform, that is, Disney+Hotstar. In the United States of America, the show will be available on the platform of Hulu (as a part of the distribution agreement with Star India).
