Kerala police had arrested 36-year-old Ajeesh for hacking a Tamil Nadu native to death.
A 34-year-old hotel receptionist, A. Ayyappan, was hacked to death by 36-year-old Ajeesh in Thiruvananthapuram. The assailant who came with a big machete attacked the receptionist while sitting in the morning.
He gave the receptionist 15 stab wounds by hacking him on his neck and head, and he escaped from the scene only after ensuring his death.
The death was first noticed by the room boy of the hotel, who returned to the hotel, saw the body, and informed the police. The CCTV of the hotel had recorded the incident.
The police had identified the murderer from CCTV visuals of the hotel immediately. Ajeesh was arrested by noon on Friday by the Kerala police from his native place at Nedumangadu district in Thiruvananthapuram.
Ajeesh had booked a room at the hotel earlier this week but got into a scuffle with the hotel staff, including Ayyappan, after getting drunk. Police said, “We have found the CCTV visual of the crime, and the accused was identified.
As per our preliminary investigation, he had earlier this week got into a quarrel with the victim, and the murder was a result of that fight,” police said.
“However, we are looking into all angles. The investigation is on,” police added. Police also said that eight cases were pending against Ajeesh, and he was released on bail during the initial days of Covid-19.
