The outbreak of Nipah virus has caused all the educational institutions to close for an indefinite period of time in Kozhikode, Kerala. The public examination schedules will not be changed or hampered due to this closure of the educational institutions.
It was an announcement from the district collector of Kozhikode on Saturday that all the educational institutions will remain closed from September 18th. The educational institutions will also include the madrasas, tuition centers, anganwadis, and coaching centers–which will remain closed till further notice.Â

The local people had spoken about there being no changes in the schedule of the public examination due to the virus spread. The administration or the government has imposed sections 26, 30, and 34 from the Disaster Management Act to protect the people from the virus.
All the rules that have been set by the government have to be followed by the examinees during their public examination. The previous order from the government had asked the educational institutions to remain closed till September 24th.
The official had said that the online classes can be arranged for the students during the period of the outbreak, according to his facebook post. An update was shared by the health minister of Kerala, Veena George on Saturday regarding an update on Nipah Virus.

Veena George had mentioned that on Saturday, on September 11, the test results from the people who were high risk had come in. All of those results were negative. The Kozhikode Medical College Hospital is currently taking care of 21 of the high risk patients.. They are under isolation at the current time.
2 of the high risk patients are placed at private hospitals. The son of the first person to die of Nipah virus, who is a 9 year old boy, has also tested positive for the virus and is stable and improving during the current time, according to the reports.Â
The reports from the officials also said that there were 19 teams who were working across the district to contain the virus in Kozhikode.

The Mobile Tower Locations Of Patient Zero Of The Nipah Virus Outbreak Is Being Identified
Once the Nipah virus patient zero was identified in the Kozhikode outbreak, the state government had started to seek the details of the place of his infection. The location of his infection is being traced through seeking the details of his mobile tower locations.
Patient zero had died on August 30th, but only much later was it found that the patient had died of the virus. His son and brother-in-law as well are undergoing treatment for the virus. Another person, a health worker, is also under treatment as patient zero had come into contact with him.
The educational institutions are being closed in Kozhikode indefinitely.Â

At the current time, the contact list of patient zero has 1,080 people while 130 more people have been added to the list on 16th September. 327 people out of the list of contacts were health workers.
29 people were in the list of Nipah virus infected who were from other districts than Kozhikode. 22 of these people were from Malappuram, 1 from the district of Wayanad, and another 3 from Kannur and Thrissur–according to Veena George.
The government of Kerala is also trying to contact the 6th person who was confirmed as another Nipah virus patient. No new positive cases have occurred in the state, according to Veena George.

21 people from the Kozhikode medical college, along with 2 children from the Institute of Maternal and Child Health have been put in isolation. All the infected people are a part of the first wave of viral infection. The infections have been occurring in two clusters.
According to the city mayor of Kozhikode, Beena Philip, all the places were infected man has traveled to have been declared as containment zones.
