Chandigarh Times Fashion Week : honouring heritage and magnetism

Chandigarh Times Fashion Week paid homage to the cultural heritage and the allure. Designers Sidharth K Kakkar, Simple Kaur and Joy Mitra exhibited their collection along with the students of the designing department of Lovely Professional University. 

Introduced by Nirvana Square One, the educational institute Indian Institute of Fashion & Design (IIFD) partnered with the Chandigarh Times Fashion Week. The event was held on 16th of September of this year. From marine life, intergalactic space, to using the recycled materials for their very individual collections, designers tried to work with every theme available.

The first day of Fashion Week 

On the first day of the Chandigarh Times Fashion Week, designs were focused around the concept of dreams. The highpoint of the attires was the exuberance of the dark hues, flowy silhouettes and harem trousers styled with western design blouses. The clothing range also focused on an Arabic theme with one of the models adorning a Tunisian Chechi, a flat-surfaced, traditional red woollen hat. The title of the collection was Eclat Élève, a spectacle of artistry and inventiveness. 

The eye-catching collection happened to be curated by the upcoming designers, to remodel the outlook of the fashion industry with their innovations. These individuals reformulated the profession with their avant-garde couture as well as sustainable clothings. 

Stargaze 

Designer Sidharth K Kakkar fabricated his Stargaze collection, a variety of styles to pay homage to the forthcoming wedding season. The ensembles varied from tuxedos, drapes, corsets, anarkalis and dresses. Kakkar had exclaimed that he was elated to present his collection for this year. Actor Gavie Chahal and the Punjab minister Chetan Singh Jouramaj were few of the attendees of this Fashion Week event. 

Indian Cricketer Mandeep Singh was the opening model of the collection, wearing a traditional sherwani and a black color churidar. The intricate beadwork was placed symmetrically on the sherwani and the dresses, to give the illusion of the twinkling stars of the night. The showstopper for his costumery was the actor ,Binnu Dhillon. She had worn traditional outfits and had announced that she became a part of the show to support her friend. The actress also emphasized that traditional clothings is her comfort place. 

Fashioner Simple Kaur 

Simple Kaur’s Chandigarh Times Fashion Week collection was all about the fusion of the sophisticated Punjabi drapes with the western styles. The ensembles were influenced by the rich culture of the remote areas of the state of Punjab. RJ Meenakshi was the showstopper in this round of trousseau. 

Kaur had vocalised that her overclothes celebrated the invincible soul of the women around the globe. She had also mentioned that modern day brocades and Benarasi were used for the production of the garments. These apparels highlighted the energy, resilience and the unfaltering will power of women. 

Joy Mitra 

The final collection of the day was presented by the designer Joy Mitra. The focal point of this round of overclothes were the Jhoomers personified by the Benarasi interwork. Silk and georgettes of vibrant hues were also showcased in the designer’s signature style. Mitra had expressed that the touch of Bengal in his designs were inevitable. 

The fusion was different from its former counterparts. His collection had two showstoppers, actresses Jasmine Bajwa and Mahi Sharma. The apparels were accessorized by bindis and gajras. The lavish adornments were coordinated with the colors of the outfits collectively.
