Rishabh Pant is now the fastest player to score a fifty in a Test match after he smashed a 50 from only 28 deliveries surpassing Kapil Dev’s record of 50 from 30 balls.

Pant’s Record breaking fifty
The Indian wicket-keeper batter, Rishabh Pant gave the spectators another exciting show with his batting competency on Sunday. He smashed 50 from only 28 balls with 7 boundaries and 2 over boundaries. Pant now holds the record of scoring the fastest fifty in Test cricket.
For the last 40 years, former-Indian World Cup winning Captain, Kapil Dev held the record. He had scored 50 out of only 30 deliveries against Pakistan in the Karachi Test in 1982. Last year, Shardul Thakur is number three on the list with his 31 balls fifty against England in the Oval Test.

Pant is now also the world-record holder of achieving the fastest fifty by a wicket-keeper batter in Tests surpassing Australian player Ian Smith and former-Indian Captain MS Dhoni. Both Smith and Dhoni had scored fifty out of 34 balls.
Team India is on the lead
After an easy victory in the Mohali Test, Team India is in a comfortable position at the end of Day 2 of the second Test match against Sri Lanka. India leads 1-0 in the 2 match Test series. Jasprit Bumrah has picked up five Sri Lankan wickets in the first innings and has already opened his copy with Thirimanne’s wicket in the second innings of Sri Lanka.
