Correspondent for Fox News, Benjamin Hall was injured on March 14th in Ukraine while reporting outside of Kyiv. He has been hospitalised. Fox News executives have sparse information regarding the nature of the correspondent’s injuries.
Benjamin Hall, aged 39, is a war correspondent who has covered various conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria and other war-stricken countries. Hall joined Fox News in 2015 and was promoted to State Department correspondent just last year.
Although the network has minimal details about the incident, they have teams working on the ground to gather additional information. The network said the safety of their journalists in Ukraine and neighbouring regions is their top priority. The incident is a bleak reminder for all journalists who daily put their lives on the line to deliver news from hazardous war zones.
On March 13th, an American filmmaker and journalist, Brent Renaud, aged 50, was shot dead while reporting in Kyiv. The area he was reporting from within Kyiv had been targeted by the Russian forces and witnessed intense shelling.
The press secretary of USA’s President, Joe Biden, acknowledged the correspondent’s injuries during a White House press briefing on Monday. “Our thoughts, the president’s thoughts, our administration’s thoughts are with him,” said Ms. Jen Psaki, the US President’s press secretary.
Mr. Hall is a dual citizen of the United States and Britain. He was based in London before relocating to Washington in 2021. Hall’s war reporting consists of being embedded with soldiers in the Middle East and Africa. He also authored a history of ISIS titled “Inside ISIS: The Brutal Rise of a Terrorist Army.”
Including Mr. Hall, five correspondents from Fox News are currently posted in Ukraine, covering the Russian invasion.
