Summer is here and the heat is becoming unbearable, making us drowsy and listless, sucking all of our energy out. It’s April, and the season of treacherous exams is over too, as is the tedious online classes. Suddenly, all the fun activities we were planning on doing when the exams were over, especially distracting us when we needed to focus on studies, have now become less appealing and bored.
Scrolling through Instagram as well is not that attractive now, where all the content is centred around the current trends with no originality from the creators. Also, watching people from school and college go on trips, hitting clubs, and just looking like perfect Instagram models in their recent posts gets on my nerves like the irritating heat.
Well, we can do nothing about it except choose to look elsewhere where we can spend our time laughing, learning something new, or just becoming a part of the community and sharing love for the things we like. Here are some suggestions on how to NOT be bored and have fun on unique websites that are churning out interesting and unique content every day.
- Pottermore
If you love Harry Potter and the wizarding world of Harry Potter, you should definitely visit Pottermore. They have so many quizzes based on different subjects at Hogwarts, quotes, and some challenges to test the wizard in you. They also update amazing information about the wizarding world that has been untapped and unseen in the movies and books, and give regular updates and the latest news about the upcoming books and movies. As Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore was just recently released on April 8th in India, you can get sorted into your Hogwarts house based on your personality and get fitted with the perfect wand just for you before heading to the theatres to watch the movie.

Cracked is a site that publishes articles that are full of American pop culture with a sense of humor. Most of the articles are satirical and sarcastic, perfect for when you are bored out of your mind and need a laugh. Tumblr
Personally, I love surfing Tumblr. Do you want good quotes? Go to Tumblr. Want to read beautiful and expressive poetry? Then Tumblr is your friend. The website is full of creative artists and writers. Even Taylor Swift, a well-known American pop star, is active on this site. She freely interacts with her fans, reposts their weird fan theories, and publishes poems that have never been seen or heard before.

BuzzFeed
I’ll be the first to confess that I’ve spent umpteen hours on BuzzFeed quizzes. They are fun and creative. BuzzFeed is one of the top websites to surf when you are bored. It has content on movies and television, interviews with starlets, and gives us an insight into the world of entertainment. It also has this unique topic where interesting recipes by Tasty are published, where you can make dishes that are inspired by movies at home.
-
Reddit
Reddit is a discussion website where you can find like-minded people like you and join any of the thousands of communities already active on Reddit. You can choose a topic from gaming, sports, television, or celebrities and get interesting content related to it.
If you are someone who, even if bored, wants to use his/her time to learn something new and useful, then Reddit also has knowledgeable topics like business, finance, and crypto where you can educate yourself and ask questions in the community.
And even if you can’t find a community about the thing you are passionate about, you can just make one yourself and get to meet people of the same interests and build a community.
-
Quora
Quora is a question-answer website where you can ask any kind of question about anything under and above the sun and get multiple answers to it. A few years ago, I started to surf Quora whenever I was bored, and I started to follow so many writers who wrote relatable content about life and relationships in general. I used to write on this site too. It’s a great site to meet interesting people and read about their unique perspectives on things.
-

MUBI
MUBI was introduced to me by a friend who’s a huge movie junkie and watches every kind of movie out there. MUBI is especially popular for indie and art movies, which are not easily available on Netflix or Amazon Prime. I’ve seen Indian short films which are so much better than the current Bollywood masala movies.
The realness, the raw nature of the direction of the most basic of human emotions, and the originality of stories make them worth checking out. The movies have a very short duration of 15-20 minutes, which in this age of short attention span is perfect for a boring evening. Some movies you can check out are: Right Here, Right Now, and Juice and Safar.
