The Punjab government has urged and advised the public to wear face masks again due to rising cases of COVID again. Punjab has made wearing masks in public places mandatory.
The total active cases of COVID have risen to 14, 241, along with 54 deaths in the past 24 hours. According to the rising situation of novel coronavirus, it is estimated that Punjab will soon be facing the fourth wave of COVID-19.
Current situation
According to reports, Punjab has 28 deaths since the last 24 hours due to the rise in COVID wave. Coronavirus has started to spread in many other districts of Punjab. The no. of active corona patients has risen to 123 in Punjab.
Today, 262 cases have been reported in the state where 2 patients are still on oxygen support. In view of this, the Punjab government has made it mandatory to wear masks in public places.
No. of patients found
On 21st April, 9930 tests were taken in Punjab with 10014 samples. 12 newly infected patients were found yesterday in different districts of Punjab. The highest no. of patients was reported in Amritsar and Ludhiana. 3 patients were found in Pathankot and Mohali and 2 patients in Fatehgarh Sahib.
Apart from this, some other patients were found from Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Muktsar, SBS Nagar and Ta Tarn Taran. Pathankot had the highest positivity rate of 2.29%. The overall positivity rate of Punjab is 0.23%.
Conclusion
Seeing the rising no. of cases in Punjab of COVID, the Punjab government has declared the wearing of masks mandatory. Principal Secretary Home Anurag Verma said that it was important to wear a mask in all public transport including buses, trains, planes, and taxis.
In addition, it is also important to wear masks in public and crowded places like cinema halls, shopping malls, department stores, classrooms, offices and indoor gatherings.
