The first reactions for Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness is out. They call it a true horror movie with a massive twist in every bit of a way. With a lot of surprises but a disjoined plot.
Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness arrived online immediately following its world premiere on May 2nd. This movie surely did a great number of wonders as the film has massive expectations to live up to after the record breaking blockbuster success of Spider-Man No Way Home and yet it’s still grossing over.
Benedict Cumberbatch the protagonist of this movie had teased in an interview that Doctor Strange 2 has whatever it takes to be as big as No Way Home, keeping in mind the huge scope of the film and how it holds the worth of content especially considering what and how it can be turned out in respective of phase 4 by now.
Critics praised the Director of Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness Sam Raimi who previously has done wonders in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) history. They mainly focused and highlighted the horror that this movie puts forth. Although some critics found faults with the disjoined nature and spontaneous fan service.
Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff has in so many ways both good and bad –stolen the spotlight. Her variants have definitely played a number regarding how each one in each reality augmented within oneself.
As we know Wanda Maximoff was declared by many as the MVP of the movie and her emotional journeys left several audiences impressed and heartbroken. This movie also has a narrative through line with the Disney + blockbuster show WandaVision which premiered last year.
With all this happening it is also highly noted that many fans from Saudi Arabia and China have aggressively reacted towards banning this movie in their countries and cyber bullying the star Xochitl Gomez who plays America Chavez in Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness.
Feedbacks
“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the weirdest, grossest Marvel movie yet. It’s wildly disjointed, partially on purpose, so it doesn’t always work but the horror, and especially Wanda, work incredibly well. Plus wow. What huge surprises.” wrote one critic from i09 Germain Lussier.
Nora Dominick of BuzzFeed mentioned the film as ‘a ride from start to finish’. She added, “A little rushed in some spots, but it has the iconic Sam Raimi wild vibe. No surprise, but Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch is a force and she surprises at every turn as she builds upon everything she’s done in the MCU so far.”
Perri Nemiroff from Collider’s wrote, “MARVEL MADE A HORROR MOVIE! It’s weird, scary and earns the title Multiverse of Madness. If you were at all concerned this movie wouldn’t feel Sam Raimi enough, fear not! I can’t imagine a more Sam Raimi MCU film. My genre loving heart is bursting right now.”
