On May 8, 2022, Hyderabad Police in Telangana recovered 800 kg ganja worth Rs 2 crore and detained two people. Ganja was being transported through Telangana from Andhra Pradesh to Uttar Pradesh. Based on a tip-off, investigators from Shamshabad Zone’s Special Operations Team (SOT) and Shamshabad Police apprehended two drug dealers and seized 800 kg of ganja being transported by a truck.
Khushi Mohammed, the truck driver, and Sonu Singh, the cleaner, are the two people who have been arrested. Both were from Uttar Pradesh, according to Cyberabad Police Commissioner Stephen Ravindra, while three other suspects are still at large. The illicit material was to be delivered to Sikander, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district. According to the commissioner, Sikander, together with Somu alias Bhagawan, an Odisha resident who is the supplier, and Bijender Singh of Mathura district, who owns the truck, are all missing.
Police personnel said that Mohammad was allegedly buying ganja from local growers in Visakhapatnam and Odisha and supplying it to Sikander, who then sold it to consumers in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, according to police. Sikander had placed an order for 800 kg of dried ganja a week earlier, according to The News Minute. The arrested truck driver, Mohammad, had obtained the required quantity from his suppliers.
On May 6, the driver and cleaner began driving a cottonseed-laden vehicle from Vijayawada to Rajahmundry. According to police, while in Rajahmundry, the driver contacted the truck’s owner. After that, they were led by an unknown individual to a deserted site in the vicinity when two cars containing ganja packets arrived. They loaded the truck with 32 bags carrying 64 packets of ganja.
The driver and cleaner left for Bulandshahr through Hyderabad in the early hours of Saturday, May 7. They were apprehended on the outskirts of Hyderabad after sleuths seized 800 kilograms of ganja worth approximately Rs 2 crore in the truck.
