It’s a conflict that will never come to an end! The Harry Potter enthusiast will always stand by his or her books, and the movie fanatic will always be there to give the book geek a run for his or her money.
Both will engage in combat in any new book-to-movie adaptation, and there will be plenty of gore! The truth remains, however, that movies (films) are always preferable to books (novels) due to the following factors:
- Time
As for who has the time to go through 600 pages of a Harry Potter book, please tell me. I’m referring to the fact that people no longer read, and even if they do, reading tendencies have shifted.
They would prefer to read a synopsis or watch a video on the subject, but no one would be insane enough to read a 600-page book simply to find out what Marauder’s Map features were, would they? Today’s society values time above all else, and with such demanding schedules, individuals have little time to read.
-
Environment-Friendly
Of course, there are electronic books to cover that ground, but there are still a lot of insane book fanatics out there who “love to collect books.” They go completely insane as soon as a book is out.
To put it another way, it’s preferable to see a movie rather than cutting down trees to print one. Create a movie collection rather than accumulating a large amount of mass paper that will eventually waste away!
-
More Exciting and Involving Activities
You could only read books if you are by yourself! When you watch a movie, on the other hand, the experience is completely different and beautiful. You may organize a movie night with friends and family, buy delicious cuisine, and relax while watching.
Now, have you really seen or heard of someone taking a “book day out” with their friends? In addition, reading a book is considered a sacred activity. There are no two persons who are reading the same book at the same time.
Even if there isn’t, there are book clubs where people may debate it. People, on the other hand, always prefer to read on their own.
-
Can we watch it again?
It’s difficult to read the same book over and over again. A movie, on the other hand, may be seen over and over again, as many times as the viewer desires. There are certain iconic movies, such as The Shawshank Redemption, that I may have seen almost 50 times yet have never grown tired of seeing.
And it’s not just Shawshank; try reading the Godfather trilogy and comparing it to the movie series. Yes, the movies are really amazing, and they have more than compensated for my many lonely weekends. Over the other hand, reading the Godfather book series on the weekend would be discouraged.
-
There is an excessive amount of detail.
To be honest, novels contain much too much information. Even a seemingly innocuous item such as the sky may have a 4-page preface in a book dedicated to it. This has the potential to drive anybody insane! Movies, on the other hand, don’t go into great depth about their characters.
However, this does not imply that films are exempt from this need. They just broadcast the most significant and thrilling sections of the event for around two to three hours. And there is the whole of the beauty! Everything is concise, to the point, and, in reality, covers all of the major topics of a book as well.
The films based on the Harry Potter books didn’t leave much to be desired. Even if some of the regions were adjusted to fit in 2-3 hours, what’s the big deal if JK Rowling doesn’t seem to be bothered by it?
-
Songs that serve as a cherry on top
If there were no movies, where would you obtain those upbeat dance numbers or those great love songs that you can sing and dance to all night long? Books may provide you with thoughts, words, and deep insights into human nature, but they cannot provide you with upbeat statistics.
which, believe it or not, are a must these days! Have you ever made Game of Thrones ringtones or downloaded background soundtracks from a book that you read about? You’ve just shown how crucial movies are in terms of filling up your shuffles and mp3 devices with music.
-
Visualization is preferable than imagination in most cases
Book readers believe that when reading, they visualize the words taking shape in front of them, which makes the experience of reading a book more pleasurable. Some individuals have a vivid imagination and can see Hazel saying farewell to Gus in The Fault in Our Stars.
Others are more realistic. However, we would rather that Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort reenact that moment for us so that we may weep along with them, exactly like book fans claim to do when they read the book!
Conclusion
People, on the whole, have their own tastes and opinions. We never pass judgment on book geeks, but let’s not cause a commotion if a wonderful movie is being created based on a terrific book, should we?
The efficiency and impact of films are largely due to the fact that visual stimuli are significantly more stimulating than aural stimuli. They also present material more efficiently and quickly than books since they are an art form.
Despite the fact that films are a passive learning medium, they make the information more digestible. In this way, movies outperform texts on a number of different levels.
