Thor: Love and Thunder is a forthcoming superhero movie in the United States that was based on the Marvel Comics character Thor. It was made by Marvel Studios and released by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It will be the 29th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the direct sequel to Thor: Ragnarok (2017). (MCU) Chris Hemsworth plays Thor in the movie, which is directed by Taika Waititi and features Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Waititi, Russell Crowe, and Natalie Portman. Waititi and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson also co-wrote the script. When Gorr the God Butcher (Bale) tries to exterminate all gods, Thor (Bale) must go back to fighting and enlist the help of Valkyrie (Thompson), Korg (Waititi), and Jane Foster (Portman), who is now the Mighty Thor.  

By January 2018, Hemsworth and Waititi had discussed ideas for a Ragnarok sequel. Hemsworth, Waititi, Thompson, and Portman, who did not take part in Ragnarok, were all confirmed to return in Love and Thunder when it was first revealed in July 2019. Waititi sought to build a romance movie and an adventure with an 80s feel to set Love and Thunder apart from Ragnarok. He borrowed ideas from Jason Aaron’s run on the Mighty Thor comic book, in which cancer patient Foster assumes the identity and powers of Thor.  

In February 2020, Robinson joined to assist to the writing; later that year, more casting, including the debut of the Guardians of the Galaxy, was made public. The COVID-19 epidemic caused a delay in production that was originally scheduled to start in late 2020. In the end, filming in Sydney, Australia, started in January 2021 and ended at the start of June.  

Thor: Love and Thunder, a Phase Four MCU film, is slated to have its Los Angeles premiere on June 23, 2022, and its American release on July 7, 2022.  

Storyline and Summary of the film – 

The assassin known as Gorr the God Butcher, who wants to wipe off the gods, interrupts Thor’s retirement. Thor enlists the aid of King Valkyrie, Korg, and his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster to defeat the menace. To Thor’s surprise, Jane Foster mysteriously holds his magical hammer, Mjolnir, in the role of the Mighty Thor. Together, they set out on a perilous cosmic quest to unravel the truth behind the God Butcher’s retaliation and put an end to him before it’s too late.  

Thor sets off on a quest for inner calm that is unlike anything he has ever experienced. Gorr the God Butcher, an assassin from another galaxy who wants to wipe out all gods, however, interrupts his retirement. Thor enlists the aid of King Valkyrie, Korg, and his ex- girlfriend Jane Foster, who — to his amazement — mysteriously wields his mystical hammer, to defeat the menace. They embark on a perilous cosmic journey together to solve the riddle of the God Butcher’s retaliation.
