In France, after losing the majority in parliament president Emmanuel Macron directed Prime Minister Elisabeth Born to propose a new government of action from July.
Macron said that he took this decision after the discussions with different parliamentary groups on various issues. “I decided today to confirm my confidence in Elisabeth Borne,” he said.
“Upon my return from the G7 and NATO summits, the Prime Minister will submit to my proposals for a roadmap for the government of France over the coming months and years, and also for the composition of a new government of action at the service of France, which we will put in place in the first days of July,” he said in an interview with Agency France press on Saturday.
Emmanuel Macron has also instructed Elisabeth Born to conduct discussions with various political parties and their parliamentary groups to form the majority government as the voting on confidence vote will be held on 5 July and the voting on the budget of the government in autumn.
Now it is up to Prime Minister Born to form a majority coalition for pursuing the work for her government with the discussion with opposition from left Insoumis to far-right le pen or Les Républicains.
Macron will not manage the deliberation to gather support from the majority till Wednesday because of his visit to the G7 summit and NATO.
However, in the interview, President Macron has refused to include Rally Nationale and La France Insoumis. He said that these parties have a legitimate mandate based on their political formation.
“I have always been clear on that subject- these parties do not inscribe as a party’s government,” he said.
Therefore, Macron also said that the discourse between Prime Minister Born and the representative of political groups will be based on the presidential framework which is linked with his majority win in the presidential election.
in the framework, he limits the discussion on several projects and sets uncompromising policy matters such as long-awaited pension reforms. He also assured that the government of action will not increase taxes and debt.
