Taking onto social media, Actor, and musician Jamie Foxx released a teaser announcing the phone call taking place between himself and Diaz in a way to make a comeback in the acting field.
After the pair was last seen acting together in Diaz’s film – a 2014 remake of Annie, wherein she was seen playing Miss Hannigan, this announcement comes out after eight years of that being aired.
Cameron Diaz commented that she was both “excited” and also “very anxious” about her returning to this industry.
While the big call announcement, Jamie Foxx, who bagged an Oscar for his portrayal of US soul singer Ray Charles in 2014, also connected the big call with Diaz to the Super Bowl-winning Tom Bradey to offer some useful advice on how to launch a big-time comeback.
After returning to NFL in March 2022, right after six weeks of having announced his departure, Brady said, “I was talking to Jamie Foxx and he said you need a few tips on how to un-retire.”
He further continued saying, “I am relatively successful at un-retiring.”
To this, actor Diaz replied, “Honestly, exactly what I needed.”
Foxx made a note in the written caption to the post he shared regarding how he had had to hire the help of “another GOAT” (greatest of all time) to assist Cameron Diaz with her big return.
Brady reported, “Cameron I hope you aren’t mad I record this, but no turning back now.”
Why did Diaz retire in the first place?
Making her breakthrough with the 1994 comedy The Mask alongside Jim Carrey, and right after that started her journey as Hollywood’s biggest star.
Playing a character beside Ben stiller’s rom-com There’s something about Mary, got her quite an attention and for which she got nominated for Golden Globe as well. Besides this, the films Charlie’s Angels and The Holiday were also well known to the audience, and enjoyed them quite a bit.
Not only this but in the infamous and classic animated series Shrek’s character Princess Fiona had the voice of Cameron Diaz. She was also nominated for a Bafta for being the best-supporting actress for Being John Malkovich.
The Hollywood actor’s appearance in the last movie of her 20-year career included Gangs of New York and Vanilla Sky, both critically acclaimed came out in the 2014 movie adaptation of Annie the musical.
In the year 2018, she formally took on the audience to confirm her retirement from acting. Although before that itself she has left hints of stepping back from the acting industry.
“I just went, I cannot really say who I am to myself. Which is a hard thing to face up to. I felt the need to make myself whole,” she spoke out at an event run by Gwyneth Paltrow, her close friend.
Although after the formal declaration, she did not rule out the day of her return someday.
Diaz reportedly said that she found “peace” after turning away from Hollywood and the industry as a whole.
“I got my peace in my soul because I finally was taking care of myself “ she was heard saying in yet another conversation with her dear friend Paltrow. The change this time was that it was in a podcast on the Sliding Doors stars’ wellness.
“It is a strange thing to mention, and I am aware that a lot of people won’t really understand it, I know you understand it, but it is so much more of an intensity to work at that level and to put yourself out there, be that public, gets a lot honestly.”
“There is a lot of energy that comes at you constantly when you are really visible as an actor and every now and then doing press while putting yourself out there”, She further added.
