Cristiano Ronaldo made headlines after rumors of him leaving United floated throughout the internet. Reportedly Portuguese star wants an exit from red devils camp after they failed to qualify for Champions League.
According to various reports, 37 years old footballer is most likely to join the bitter rivals, Chelsea. There was also a rumor suggesting that he may join German football giants Bayern Munich, but the owner of the club denies all such claims. CR7 was also absent from training and isn’t part of the pre-season tour of the club.
Erik Ten Hag addressed the media ahead of his first game as Manchester United manager.
Former Ajax manager in his first press conference denied all the claims of Ronaldo leaving the club this summer. He suggested that his absence at pre-season has nothing to do with the rumors of departure.
“Ronaldo is not for sale; he is part of our plans. He’s not part of pre-season owing to personal family reasons. We have our plan set for Cristiano for this season” says the newly appointed Dutch manager.
While quizzed further on the rumor of Ronaldo leaving Manchester this summer, Ten Hag recalls a conversation he had with the Portuguese star.
“I spoke with Cristiano before the news erupted regarding his transfer. I had a positive conversation with him, but he never mentioned the desire to depart. We want to work together and have success” he recalls.
Whether CR7 has changed his mind after that is questionable, but the club has taken stance on this issue.
On signing Tyrell Malacia
“He has the profile of a modern full-back. Defends well, tough to beat and pretty good in the offence that’s why we signed him”.
On potential transfers this summer
Manchester United has only signed Malacia so far. Red Devils have also been linked to signing Dutch and Danish midfielders Frenkie De Jong and Christian Eriksen.
“We want to add players who can fit in the squad. We have really good squad; we are working to develop our style of play”.
“Frenkie De Jong? I don’t like to talk about players who are under contract. I am not going to answer this question. But yeah, we are looking to add two more players one in midfield and one in offense “says Ten Hag.
In the end, he also confirmed that Harry Maguire will continue to serve as the captain of the club.
